Thelma’s forever family started the adoption process with NBBR several weeks ago and they decided NOT to look at the available dogs until they had been completely approved. So, while going through the process they had no idea Thelma was looking for a home that did not have other dogs.  It just so happens they only want one dog and LOVED Thelma’s “curvy” features.

After their meet and greet, it was apparent it was love at first sight for all parties. Thelma is not only the only dog but she is the center of her new Mom and Dad’s world. She is one lucky Bulldog and no doubt will be spoiled rotten. Congratulations to Thelma and her new parents.

11/15/2016 Update: I have had Thelma for less than 2 days. There is no doubt she will be a coveted pup!  I don’t have much to report since it’s not been 2 days.

She wants to be with you all the time.  I think she must have spent a great deal of time on car rides with her previous owners. Either that or she wants to go somewhere in particular ( perhaps she thinks she is going back to her previous home). Reason being every time I take her outside she proceeds to go to my car, or any car for that matter, and sits by the door wanting to get in.  I live on the second floor and it was quite comical when I first got her here. She did not know how to climb a stair but now she’s getting it. Like most Bulldogs, she sleeps almost all the time and she adores to be in front of a floor fan. Fortunately I have several.  I have not had opportunities to see her behavior with other dogs yet but she loves humans, and they certainly LOVE her. She does breathe heavy when she gets excited.  However,  she was checked out at the clinic on Friday and the vet says she’s fine.  To know her is to love her.

11/13/2016 Update:  Welcome Thelma to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family.

Thelma is a 3 year old, female English Bulldog that weighs 59 lbs.  Thelma joins the NBBR family as an owner surrender.  She was raised in a household with two other dogs and, for whatever reason, the three decided they did not want to get along any longer. Because Thelma was the youngest of the three, the family made the decision it would be easiest for her to find a new forever home.

After joining Rescue, Thelma had a whirlwind weekend. Her first stop was the clinic to get a check up and make sure that she was as healthy as she appeared. And, YES!!! she is a very healthy and happy girl.  Thelma does have a slightly elongated palate that causes her to breathe heavy when she gets excited. But, based on Dr. H’s assessment, it does not appear that the risk of the surgery would provide enough benefit.

Thelma’s next stop was at a NBBR event, where she was the hit of the event. She loved meeting all of the humans that had made the special trip to see her. Thelma is a lover of all humans of any and all sizes. She was in heaven. Since the event was two days, she and her temporary foster dad had to spend the night in a hotel. This required Thelma to be in stealth-mode to make it to the room, which she accomplished like it was old hat.  Once in the room, she quickly claimed the chair as a resting spot where she could relax and watch some television after a long day of greeting her adoring public.  All was going well until around midnight when Thelma decided that she needed to sleep IN the bed instead of on the floor BY  the bed. No worries, with a quick boost, Thelma was comfortably nestled right beside her temporary foster dad for the rest of the night.

Sunday was the highlight of the weekend.  This was the day that Thelma met her new foster Mom. It was love at first sight for both of them. Thelma adjusted very quickly and is loving her new digs.

Currently we are evaluating Thelma’s temperament around other dogs (she was good at the event) but it may be best for Thelma if she is in a house where she is the one and only Queen of the manor. The ideal family or home for Thelma would be one that has time to shower this lovely lady with all the love and attention that she wants and deserves.  Does that sound like you? If so, what are you waiting for? fill out an adoption application before this beauty gets swept off her feet by someone else.
