9/24/2017 Update:

Spencer has been ADOPTED!!!! It is with great pleasure we announce Spencer has found his forever home.

Spencer joined the NBBR family as a stray.  He was found running the streets alone by an Animal Control Officer.  Spencer was then taken to a local shelter where he sat in a crate waiting for his owners to come and claim him.  After many days at the shelter no one had stepped forward to claim him.  Spencer was then placed up for adoption to the general public and still no one seemed to want him. That all changed when our volunteer saw Spencer on the shelter website.  Spencer’s first stop was the clinic to get a full check-up and then to his foster home, which would become his forever home.

Spencer’s parents were set on adopting a Bulldog, but had zero experience with the breed. They applied for our Foster to Adopt Program so they could get hands on experience with Bulldogs and see if this was the right breed for them. Spencer’s foster mom just knew it would take a couple of fosters until she fell in love, Spencer thought otherwise. Spencer became his parents best friend and shadow. Spencer now spends his days getting back rubs, treats, and the love he deserves.

Spencer will still be apart of NBBR as a foster brother. He will help other dogs like him get adjusted to a loving safe environment until they find their forever homes.

Congratulations to Spencer and his new family !

9/11/2017 Update:  Spencer is doing well on this fine Sunday evening. This week has been a pretty chill week for him. Tuesday he went with his foster mom to her friends house were he met two new friends. One of his friends was the house Rabbit Pebs. Spencer was extremely curious about Pebs and even decided to take over his new friends crate to try and find him. Spencer got his new eye drops this week and his eyes have cleared up tremendously. Spencer loves to follow his foster parents everywhere. He even likes to snuggle with them and suck on their cover until he falls asleep, requiring them to dry the cover after. Spencer is doing better about not being angry when he is politely asked to get off the furniture.  Spencer is an extremely sweet guy who just wants to love and be loved.

9/3/2017 Update:  Spencer had a pretty chill week. Monday he decided the baby gate was no match for him and that he should show his foster parents how responsible he is by breaking out and not destroying the place, he succeeded. Spencer since has had free range while his foster parents are not at home. He spends his alone time napping and dreaming about his furever family. Spencer loves to be out and about and has invited himself to go anywhere that allows dogs. Spencer is a big boy but still loves to go on walks. Spencer loves the sun and being outside but understands the heat is an issue and is counting the days until cool weather. He has also showed his foster parents that he knows how to play fetch, Spencer is such a smart boy. Spencer did go see Dr.H for his eye infection and ear infection and got new meds to help it go away. Spencer has showed his foster parents this week that he loves the sofa and bed so much that he can’t help but bark when they take him off. Spencer is going to work on him not wanting to get off of the furniture, he promises. Spencer is a sweet love bug and can’t wait to meet his furever family.

8/27/2017 Update:  Spencer has had quite an eventful week. Thursday, Spencer got a bath at a self pet wash. Spencer was very excited about getting to take a ride with his fosters, until they had to clean him. Spencer let his foster parents clean him but did let them know he wasn’t happy with their actions by staying in a different room. Spencer eventually decided to come in the bedroom with his foster parents once he understood they just wanted him to smell good. Saturday Spencer went to the Hollywood Feed Event with another foster parent. Spencer told us he had a great time by coming home and falling right to sleep. Spencer was happy to meet everyone and says thanks for the love and rubs. Sunday Spencer went with his foster parents to their families house, were he was able to get back rubs from the entire family. Spencer was great with the other dogs in the house. Spencer also got to play with the kids and chase them around the house, which was the first time his foster parent ever saw him run. The kids loved Spencer and Spencer loved the kids and attention. Spencer was sleep 2 seconds after getting in the car to head home. Spencer is a joy to say the least. Spencer is the perfect addition to a family with or without kids. Spencer has a lot of love and snuggles to give his furever family.

8/20/2017 Update:  Spencer is all settled in his foster home, let’s just say he is a dream! Spencer is the sweetest boy, filled with love and cuddles. Spencer enjoys attempting to drink all of his bath water, eating treats, getting his chin rubbed, and sleep. Spencer has welcomed guests in our house and the only condition is that he is able to give them all the kisses in the world! Spencer has encountered one other dog while outside and Spencer couldn’t of been less bothered. Spencer seems to be potty trained as he has only had one accident in the house. Spencer is smart and intelligent, he has offered guests his paw in hopes for a treat. Spencer came with a serve eye infection but after only a few days it has cleared up tremendously. Spencer allows his foster parents to clean his eyes while he sits backs and relaxes. Spencer is a jackpot and is waiting to see who will be the lucky winner!

8/18/2017  Update:  Please welcome Spencer to the No Borders Bulldog Family.  Spencer is a 3 year old male English Bulldog that weighs 69 lbs.

Spencer joins the NBBR family as a stray. She dropped everything and immediately called to see if Spencer could be released to NBBR.  Our volunteer made an appointment with the shelter staff to do a temperament test to determine we had a suitable foster.  Spencer passed all his tests and he became the newest member of the NBBR family.

Spencer’s first stop was at the clinic to get a full check-up.  He has a severe eye infection that will require both antibiotics and a lubricating gel.  Currently Spencer has a very dry eye, we won’t know if this will be a chronic condition until after the infection is gone. At that point Dr. H will be able to determine if the dry eye was caused by the infection or if Spencer will need to have daily eye drops for the rest of his life. In addition to his eye infection, he has an ear infection, but considering that he was found roaming the streets, Spencer is in pretty good shape.  We also received good news is that Spencer is heartworm negative.

Spencer joined his foster home this evening and is doing very well.  Spencer is just a big ol’ lover boy. He gets along with everyone he meets. To date he has not met a stranger.  His foster parents took him home, gave him a bath and to their surprise he actually loves the water.  He is also a champ about getting his eye drops.  It appears that Spencer is almost perfect, he does have a stubborn streak or he would be perfect.  Stay tuned as Mr. Spencer settles into his new home and we learn even more about this big guy.
