12/16/2016 Update: Spencer has been ADOPTED! Spencer joined NBBR after his previous owner did not have time for him anymore. He won over his foster family at the Tails and Ales event on October 29th. Right after coming in to rescue Spencer got two necessary surgeries (entropion and soft palate). He healed quickly and spent the next few weeks playing, cuddling, learning, and daydreaming about his forever home. Spencer’s new Dad met Spencer at the Jingle Bull Mingle on December 10th after following Spencer’s journey on Instagram and Facebook. He suspected Spencer would be a good fit for him, but once they met- he knew Spencer was the one! Congratulations to both Spencer and his new Dad.
11/27/2016 Update: Spencer has had a very eventful week! He supervised the preparation of thanksgiving dinner and the trimming of the Christmas tree. He had his first organized play date with another frenchie (9 month neutered male) and they had a blast! That puppy wore Spencer out! They had so much fun chasing each other in the yard and rolling around like wild men. Spencer got a Christmas collar to match his foster brother’s collar, which we call “jingle jangle bangles” 😊. It’s a joy to always have little jingle bells following us around the house. Today both boys were brushed, had a bath together (they were so good in the tub with each other), had their ears cleaned, and had their nails clipped. Spencer didn’t mind getting his nails clipped at all, which was a huge relief! Every bully we’ve had hates getting their nails clipped.
11/21/2016 Update: We’ve got a quick update on Mr. Spencer for you! He had his stitches from his entropian surgery removed on Wednesday. The vet said he looked great! The incisions have healed beautifully.
11/7/2016 Update: Spencer has been with us for 11 days now. It’s been 1 week since his soft palate and entropian surgery.
10/31/2016 Update: Spencer is a teeny tiny 19 lb. affectionate male. He has settled in wonderfully to his foster home. Not only is he super cute, but he has a great personality! He has no food, toy, dog or people aggression. Spencer is a very cheerful boy. He is happy to follow his foster parents around the house, happy to snuggle, happy to sit in his bed and chew, and happy to just relax and sleep. He doesn’t mind having his wrinkles, tail or ears cleaned and he behaves very well in the bath. He also has no fear of the broom, steam mop or vacuum!
He really loves being around people and will wake from a dead sleep if he sense you have left the room. His foster mom says he has a bad case of FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) because he will fight through his tiredness to monitor human activity and if he loses sight of you, he will come find you! He really enjoys cuddling on the couch. He doesn’t have to be in your lap, but he does want to be touching you.
On Wednesday 11/2 Spencer is getting entropian surgery as well as surgery to correct his elongate soft palate. This surgery is going to improve this little guy’s quality of life so much! He loves to play, but his foster parent have to stop him before he has too much fun to keep his breathing under control. He also adjusts in his sleep a lot to help his breathing. He will feel like a new man after Wednesday, and we are so excited for him!
Stay tuned for weekly updates on this sweet boy!
10/28/2016 Update: Please welcome Spencer into the No Borders Bulldog Rescue Family.
Spencer is a 6 yr. old French Bulldog that tips the scale at 19 lbs. Spencer was an owner surrender due to the fact that his previous owner’s new job required extensive travel. After reviewing her options his owner determined it was better for Spencer to be able to find a new home.
After a quick physical on Friday we found that Spencer is a very healthy little guy EXCEPT he has severe breathing issues. In addition to his palate, he has a case of entropian as well. Entropian is where the eyelids turn inwards toward the eye causing the eyelashes to rub the eyeball causing significant pain. Spencer is schedule to have both his palate and eye surgery on Wednesday of this week. Both of these surgeries will greatly improve his quality of life.
Spencer may be a teeny tiny little guy, but he is a BIG cuddle bug. He loves to be near his humans (actually any humans if they are his or not). So much so, we think he thinks he IS human. Spencer gets along well with kids, adults, other dogs and cats. He appears to be the perfect little Frenchie that needs a home where he can be showered with love and attention.
Spencer will begin his journey to find his forever home as soon as he is released from his medical hold. But we don’t think it will take very long for this teensy charmer to land the perfect family to call his own.
