3/3/2018 Update:
Sherman was ADOPTED!!!! We are so happy to announce that Sherman has found his forever family.
Sherman joined the NBBR family as a stray. He walked right up a driveway and made himself at home. He must have known what he was doing, because he found a true dog loving family. The family, however, knew they couldn’t keep him and called NBBR to determine what the next steps would be to help Sherman to find his family. The first step was to take him to a Vet to scan him for a microchip (strike one), then call the local shelter to see if anyone had reported a missing Bulldog (strike two) and finally list him on local missing animal social media sites (strike three). Sherman looked good on the outside but he had several medical conditions that would require him to stay with his foster family for several months. First and foremost he was Heartworm positive. This would require two treatments and 30 days of crate rest after each one. He also had what appeared to be arthritis, which requires daily joint supplement. Last but not least, Sherman had a lump on his side that had to be removed. The lump was determined to be a low grade mast cell tumor. The good news was that Dr. H was able to get clean margins and no additional treatment would be required. So after all that Sherman was given a clean bill of health and cleared to be adopted.
Sherman’s new forever family are old pros when it comes to adopting Rescue Bulldogs. Over the years, they have previously adopted 7 Bulldogs and Sherman made 8. They fell in love with Sherman almost as soon as they saw him on our website. So they submitted an adoption application and hoped that they would be a good match (they most definitely were!). Then they waited for Sherman to get released to be adopted. While this happened Sherman’s forever Dad had a health issue of his own. But after several months of treatments for both Sherman and his forever Dad BOTH received great news that they were healthy again and ready to meet each other. The only unknown variable in the adoption equation was if Sherman’s new forever brother (Sarge) and sister (Margo) would “be cool” with a new addition to the family. So everyone packed up and drove to the Meet and Greet location. It was “love at first sight” for Mom and Dad. While all eyes were on Sarge (the grumpy one), he and Sherman walked up to each other, did a couple of sniffs and all was good. Margo added her stamp of approval and the rest, as they say is history. To say Sherman is one lucky boy is an understatement, he hit the jackpot. Congratulations to Sherman, Sarge, Margo and of course Mom and Dad.
2/27/2018 Update: Sherman loves to soak up the sun. He and foster sister enjoyed some long overdue sunbathing this weekend. He continues to be a perfect house guest. He is such a sweet boy! He is quite the talker with his grunting, it is so adorable. Sherman has mastered taking treats easy rather than fingers as well.
2/20/2018 Update: Sweet Sherman! Sherman is such a good boy. He loves loves his Benebone and will let his fur sisters know it is his! He’s good at guarding his Benebone when he’s sleeping too. He’s quite the peacekeeper as well…he barks when his fur sisters growl when playing.

11/11/2017 Update:
Please welcome Sherman to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family. Sherman is a male Olde English Bulldog that is estimated to be 4 years old and weighs approximately 80 lbs.
Joining the NBBR family on Veteran’s day AND not having a name posed a unique situation, so we decided to honor the Veteran’s Day connection with a suitable name. Quickly looking at his large size, we decided on Sherman, as in Sherman tank. Sherman was found as a stray several days ago. He walked right up the driveway and made himself at home. After waiting for several days with no luck, they contacted NBBR again and asked if we could take him and try to locate his previous owners, or if they can not be located, help find a suitable forever family.
At first glance Sherman looked to be in “good” shape. However, upon closer examination Sherman walks with a pronounced limp. Additionally he appears to have infections in both eyes and a couple other items we will have looked at when he visits the clinic. All of the obvious items will be addressed as well as anything else Sherman needs in order to heal.
Sherman is resting comfortably with his new foster family where he immediately settled right in. While the first thing you notice about Sherman may be his BIG size, that is quickly followed by his BIG personality. He is all about the love. He wants nothing more than to be close to humans. He quickly began to lick our volunteer’s face when he was picked up. Sherman is also very quick to lie on his back waiting for a belly rub. While we don’t know much about this big guy yet, all early indications point to a phenomenal Bulldog.
