12/1/2018 Update:

Sawyer was ADOPTED!!!!! We are so happy to announce that he has found his forever family.

Sawyer joined the NBBR family as an owner sale.  While Sawyer is only 9 months old, he has already been bounced from breeder to breeder.  Sawyer started at one breeding facility where he was born. After 8.5 months they decided that he wasn’t wanted and gave him to a family member (another breeding facility).  The second family could only have a certain number of dogs and they did not want Sawyer either.  So…. they placed Sawyer for sale on social media. A friend of rescue saw the ad and contacted the seller. From there, she coordinated raising the necessary funds and made sure Sawyer would be saved from a life of breeding.  Our friend not only raised funds to ensure Sawyer’s safety, she coordinated transport for Sawyer to a temporary foster home. Sawyer spent a couple of nights at his temporary foster home where he was a complete gentleman AND had everyone fawning over him in record time.   Sawyer was then picked up by a NBBR volunteer where he was transported to DFW and spent the night playing with our volunteer’s dogs.  From there, he made a stop at the clinic to get a complete checkup and neutered.  The report from the clinic was relatively good.  Sawyer did have a few minor issues. but was healthy. Sawyer did well with his surgery and came out of it with flying colors.

Sawyer’s forever family applied the day that they saw Sawyer.  While we do not discuss specific dogs until an applicant is approved, the family crossed their fingers and hoped that it would work out.  Although Sawyer was their favorite, they were open to other Bulldogs as well. They wanted the best fit for the Bulldog and their family.  After completing the approval process they had narrowed their “wish list”  down to two potential Bulldogs.  Both Bulldogs appeared to be a good fit, but after talking to both foster families their heart kept saying Sawyer.  So, a Meet and Greet was scheduled to see if their resident Bulldog would have the same feelings for Sawyer that they had. The Meet and Greet was completed and obviously the answer was yes.  While they weren’t immediate BFF’s, they got along really well.  This was right before the Thanksgiving holiday and due to previous travel plans it was determined that Sawyer would join his forever family on the weekend.  Sawyer was really sad to say goodbye to his foster family (especially his foster brother) but he was very excited to join his new forever family.  What can we say, both Sawyer and his forever family hit the jackpot. Congratulations to the entire family.

11/5/2018 Update:

Hey everyone – Sawyer here!  My foster family has been super busy this week, so I am late in my update – sorry about that!  I would type one of these myself if my Humans would let me near the laptop – ha!  I had LOTS of outside play this past week and I made more friends with the neighborhood pups when Foster Mom was giving me my walks.  I am doing so much better on the leash – I don’t try to get right in front of anyone’s feet, I stay to my side and I’m great at paying attention when I’m walking as well.  We went to the park three times last week, and one day we went, no one was there, so I got to take my leash off and just run wild all around!  That was so much fun!  I discovered I really enjoy running up a slide, too………of course, I just slide right back down, but it was entertaining me that afternoon for a long time!  I also showed up for the Bulldog event this past Saturday and lots of people were petting me – I showed off for everyone that would watch.  I made many people laugh – or was that the wine they were drinking???  Well, regardless, it ended up being a really nice day and I enjoyed all the lovins.   Now, as I sit looking out my window, just wondering………where my forever family is………… I know they are out there!!!  Until next time, Love, Sawyer.

10/22/2018 Update:

Happy Fall!  It’s Sawyer here…….  I really didn’t do much all last week since it was more of that rain rain rain.  I had a lot of indoor play with my Foster Brother and I got lots of couch cuddles with Foster Mom.   Foster Mom has been coming up with some great indoor games this past week.  One of my favorites is tug-o-war.  I love it when a Human or my Foster Brother takes one end and I pull on the other end.  So much fun!!  Once the weather got nice outside this weekend, I was finally allowed to go outside and play.  Of course, I immediately found the play pool to jump in (but it was empty – who dumped all of my water out of here??!!) and of course sticks.  I love sticks.  So, if my forever family has a tree, I will be very happy.  I will carry around a stick for as long as you let me.  I don’t really want to chew on it the entire time – a few nibbles here and there.  I just mostly like to walk around with it, leave it somewhere, then go back and find it.  I also had an awesome week with my potty time – during the rainy days, I did potty mostly on the concrete porch outside – but, at least it was outside, so Foster Mom was okay with it.  I’ve moved back to the grass now that it’s not so wet outside.  I had a blast at the Truck Yard on Saturday getting lots of pets, belly rubs, and booty scratches and meeting new people.  After the event, I just feel asleep in the car.  I didn’t even have the energy to crawl to the backseat or the front seat.  I got in, and snooze I went.  I love car rides – I am a perfect boy in the car.  Hoping to ride in my Forever Family’s car soon!  Have a good week, everyone………..Love, Sawyer.

10/15/2018 Update:

Hey everyone – Sawyer here!!  Is everyone soaked or is it only at my house?  Jeez.  I can’t go outside and play and it’s been really frustrating.  Foster Mom was really nice to me and Foster Brother this weekend.  She let us bring a stick in from outside on Saturday so we could play inside the house with it!!!  That was so much fun.  I know we aren’t normally allowed to do this, but since it just kept raining and foster bro and I were getting restless, she let us bring in our outside toys for awhile.  Then after we tore that up and made a huge mess, she didn’t even get mad – while she picked up our mess, she turned on DogTV and we all just chilled out.  I love DogTV –It’s a channel just for me……… and, other dogs.   I also rested a lot this past week.  I was allowed on the Human Bed and Couch some this week, too.  Mostly because I have been such a good boy and I am gaining more privileges.  It got quite chilly last night and I even got to snuggle under covers with Foster Mom.  I’ve been getting lots and lots of belly rubs this week and LOTS of treats since I’ve been doing so good with my potty time – even with all the rain, I’ve finally learned I just gotta go on outside and do my business and then hurry back in.   I discovered I do like the taste of rain, too.   Sometimes I do like to just sit on the porch with my tongue out and catch some drops.  Now when it is pouring rain I prefer to be inside watching it, but when it is lightly falling, I find it fun to catch rain drops……..  but, to be honest, I’m really just sick of the rain!!!!  Hope to meet new people this weekend at Truck Yard – I’ll be there!!  Hope my forever family will be too……….. Love, Sawyer……

10/8/2018 Update:  Hi everyone!  Sawyer here.   I had such a fun week!  First of all, the weather was warmer and not rainy so I played outside every single day!  We went on three walks and I’m doing really well on the leash now.  Sometimes I get ahead of myself and try to get my front foot tangled, but I’m working on that. We went to a park near my foster house and I got to see so many small kids – they all wanted to pet me and I let them.  I love kids.  I haven’t met any babies yet, but older kids are just fine.  I even tried to climb up the slide at the park since all the kids made it look like so much fun.  Then………I heard that phrase again – “NO Sawyer.”    Boo!  Then, I got to go on a slumber party this past weekend.  Thank you to Jen who let me stay the night with her so I could attend the bulldog event while my foster family was at Six Flags.  She said I was a perfect gentleman and I had a great time showing off at the event as well!  Once I got back home Sunday, I adapted right back to my foster home and playing with my foster brother.   I am so easy going – cuddly – and just plain cute!  Have a good week everyone!

9/24/2018 Update:  Hello everyone! Sawyer here………  I had another great week at my foster home!!  The beginning of last week was awesome – it was finally nice weather and I got to play outside in all of my foster brother’s play pools.  I love water!  I think it is tons of fun……..maybe that is also why I am so obsessed with the bathroom still.  No one at my foster home can take a shower alone without me right there waiting and watching.  I will pop my head in the shower curtain if I think you are taking too long and see what you are doing in there………. and I will sit very patiently outside the shower and wait for you to come out.  I kinda want to jump in there, but so far no one will let me.  I keep hearing that word I don’t like – NO.  Thennnnnnnnn the weather changed this weekend.  Well, first off, some monsoon type rains hit my foster house.  They had some light flooding come inside, along with some mud, and well, I couldn’t keep out of it.  I kinda got in trouble that day for continuously walking through the flooded parts and then tracking water and mud throughout.  I don’t know why everyone got all upset with me, I was only playing in the mud….  Anyways…..I also had a couple accidents this weekend cuz, to be honest, I just don’t like to go outside and potty in the rain.  Foster mom did figure out that I will use a puppy pad right by the door, if it is pouring rain outside.  I am still working on these issues, but remember, I’m only 10 months old.  No chewing things that weren’t mine this week, and I got along fabulously with the grandson who came to visit this weekend, too.  We became big cuddle buddies and he let me sleep with him in his medium sized human bed.   That was wonderful.   I believe we have some event planned this coming weekend so I hope to see everyone at Sue Ellen’s – I’ll be there!!  Come see me and help me find my forever home…….  I will make you very happy and cuddle with you as much as you want!  Love, Sawyer

9/17/2018 Update:

Sawyer here!  Well I have officially been at my foster home for one week now, getting used to the rules and I heard that word NO a lot – I’m kinda tired of that word.  I am just a little boy bulldog and I want to snoop in everything, sniff everything, and even take a taste of everything – and then I hear that word NO.  And some other words like “that’s not yours” and “you aren’t allowed in there…….”  This week I had to work on a couple things – we started with some leash walking once the weather got nice outside.  I’m doing pretty good on a leash, but I prefer it OFF so I can run where I want to.  The park is such a fun place and I think I would like it more if we didn’t bring that leash along.  I also kinda like shoes.  Not all shoes.  Just my Foster Mom’s flip flops – I will slobber all over them.  I’m not a chewer on things I can’t have, I just like to carry them off and try to hide them.   I think it’s funny watching her look for the things I hide. My potty time is still good, but I did have two accidents this week – mostly because I’m just playing too much and don’t want to go outside OR I am outside playing and forget I am supposed to be having potty time as well.  I’m also very fascinated with the bathroom in the house.  Not really the toilet, I prefer the bathtub and shower.  I will sit and watch the Humans take a bath/shower if you let me.  I just like spending time with the Humans – no matter where we are.  I also think outside play pools are a blast!!  Fill one up and I am splashing in it and having all kinds of fun.  I do have a lot of puppy energy, but after I play awhile, I am totally ready to just sit on the couch with the Humans and cuddle (with my Benebone – I really love these too!).  Did I tell you that I love to cuddle? As a reward for being good this weekend,  I did get to sleep in the big Human bed – wow that was nice!!  I hope my forever family lets me cuddle with them in the big Human bed……….  All in all I had a fabulous first week getting settled in!    Love, Sawyer

9/10/2018 Update: Sawyer here!!  Well I am getting all settled in at my new foster home.  I arrived Friday night and met my foster brother and within 5 minutes of our meet and greet, we decided we want to be best friends!  It rained all weekend long so we had indoor play time and lots of playtime with toys, food, and lovins!  About me — I’m a very good boy, I only had one accident in the house, but in my defense, it was the first night and raining SO hard and I was still rather new to my surroundings, so I was a bit timid to go outside.  Once my foster brother showed me where he does his business outside, I was able to get with the program and I haven’t had anymore accidents.   I am a really good eater – matter of fact, I seem to really love and enjoy food.  Even food that isn’t mine, so I had to be scolded just a bit at first to know where I am allowed to eat and what food area belongs to those Humans I sleep in my own bed at night, all night long, and I snore just a little bit, but nothing major.  Foster mom said I have a cute snore.  I love all humans – I like to snuggle right up to you and give you a lick sometimes.  I also love other dogs and will want to play all day long if you let me.   I won’t fight over toys at all, I share very well while we are playing……… oh and I met this new creature called a pig this weekend; I am still a bit unsure of him.  He keeps following me around trying to sniff me and I’m kinda avoiding him for right now.  He’s new to me and I’m just not really sure if I like him yet or not.  So, I’m going to spend this week getting settled in and used to the new place, my new friends and Humans and I’ll check back in a week!   Love, Sawyer.

9/7/2018 Update:

Please welcome Sawyer to No Borders Bulldog Rescue.  Sawyer is a 9 month old male English Bulldog that weighs 55 lbs.

Sawyer does have an ear and skin infection.  Both infections will be treated with antibiotics and should be healed in no time.  Sawyer did well with his surgery and came out of it with flying colors.  Sawyer joined in his foster family in the middle of last week’s torrential downpour. Everyone involved was soaked to the bone but all made it home safe and sound.

Sawyer spent the weekend getting settled and appears to a true gentleman no matter where he stays. He seems to like anyone and everyone, humans and dogs but has not been cat tested yet.  He is definitely a typical Bulldog puppy with plenty of energy. He loves to explore until he gets tired, then in true Bulldog fashion he wants to snuggle on the couch.  Stay tuned for more information on Mr. Sawyer as his foster family learns more about this goofy little guy.
