2/8/2021 Update:

Romeo and Juliet have been ADOPTED!!!!  It is with the GREATEST of pleasures that we can make this announcement.

Finding the right home for a Rescue Bulldog can be quite challenging.  Finding the right home for a bonded pair of Rescue Bulldogs was a challenge for sure.   You might say it was looking for a needle in a haystack.  Well……. we found Romeo and Juliet’s needle(s).

Romeo and Juliet joined the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family in the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. They were found wandering the streets alone. While the shelter was closed to the public, the staff posted them on line and even keep them posted longer than protocol stated hoping that their owners would claim them.   What was “new and odd” back then (wearing a mask, keeping 6 feet away from everyone) is old hat now.  They came in with the “usual” things that stray dogs have,  scars from what appeared to be battle wound and ear infections, nothing that couldn’t be fixed with some TLC and time.  It was apparent from the start that they were a bonded pair.  When they couldn’t see one another at the clinic, they would cry.  Once they could see each other, they were good. So NBBR made a promise to Romeo and Juliet that we would do everything we could to keep them together.  We knew this would be a  tough promise to keep but we we were determined to make it happen.   Luckily for R & J, they had a foster family that was on board with keeping them together.   This wasn’t the easiest at times as Juliet and the resident Diva Bulldog did not see eye to eye, so the foster family had to keep the two ladies separated.   But with all the challenges,  the commitment was there and the search started.

Many potential adopters were interested in just Romeo or just Juliet.  We wanted to find that one family that could take both.   The search wasn’t quick by any means but it was well worth it.  What makes it even more amazing is that Romeo and Juliet’s new forever parents are not local. They had a long drive just to come and meet the pair.  So, after completing the approval process (which isn’t easy), they were ready for the drive. With fingers crossed and plans made for the road trip (both ways) they set out to (hopefully) make a love connection with the pair.  When the meet and greet occurred, it was just that… a love connection. All four of them hit it off famously and the rest as they say is history.  Congratulations to Mom, Dad, Romeo and Juliet, we are honored to have been a small part in helping you find one another.

Exhausted we are !  Just got back from our first trip out to our FF place out in the country.  We had 2 days of running around with all the Moo Cows and swimming in the ponds.  Got to ride on the John Deer buggy and chase frogs.  Myself Romeo, I ran so fast out in the pastures that I tripped over my feet and flipped over several times.  And Juliet was also having fun too, but at a little slower pace.  What a weekend, and now it’s rest.  Hope someone out in Adoption Land will consider us.  I know our FF loves us, and some other Family will too.  Until next week,  stay safe and healthy.  Romeo and Juliet.

5/31/2020 Update:

Update from Romeo and Juliet’s foster family:

Hey folks, We would like to introduce Romeo and Juliet.  These two are the MOST awesome pair of fun loving Joys you will ever encounter. They are very loving,  will follow you around, love taking baths and will sleep right next to you whether in a chair or bed.  They are house broken and listen well.  They get along with everyone, whether a pet or one of us.  We have only had these two for 3 weeks, and we adore them.  These two would make great family addition to someone who loves an additional family members. As their name implies Romeo and Juliet are a bonded pair and they need to be adopted TOGETHER.  While this might be a tall order to fill, we are confident that the right family is out there for this loving pair.

5/12/2020 Update:

Please welcome Romeo to No Borders Bulldog Rescue.  Romeo is a 3 year old English Bulldog that weighs 60 lbs.

Romeo (with his partner in crime, Juliet) joins the NBBR family as a stray. In the midst of the Covid-19 chaos, Romeo (and Juliet) were found by a concerned citizen running the streets as strays in a small town. The concerned citizen took him (them) in and began looking for his (their) family. After posting notices everywhere in town and all over social media the days turned into a week and the concerned citizen could no longer keep them. Romeo (and Juliet) were turned over to the local shelter. The shelter they were sent to is very limited in the amount of care that can be provided. Due to the scarcity of resources they don’t even have a veterinarian on staff.  The shelter adopts out their animals unaltered with the promise that the adopter will spay and/or neuter the pet. The staff was very worried that Romeo (and Juliet) were unaltered and could easily end up in the wrong hands. So, after posting both on the Animal Control/Shelter website and waiting another 10 days for the family to reclaim them, with no success, the shelter staff contacted NBBR and you have probably already figured out “the rest of the story”.

Picking up the pair was a different experience thanks to the Covid-19 concerns.  Our volunteer had to call and schedule a time to pick up the pair.  Everyone had to remain 6 feet away from each other and everyone was wearing masks. We are sure that both Romeo and Juliet think that all humans around them have lost their minds. Once the paperwork was completed and everyone loaded in the SUV.  Romeo’s first stop was the clinic to get a physical and to see what exactly he needed in the way of healthcare. The great news is that Romeo was Heartworm negative and only had a few “minor” issue.  The fist thing that was noticed was that it appears that Romeo had been attacked in the past, he had wounds on his neck and backend that looks like he had been in a fight of some sort. The Shelter staff had already started him on antibiotics for the wounds, so he is on his way to a full recovery.  Romeo did have an ear and eye infection that also require antibiotics. In addition to that list, Romeo needed to be neutered (which was immediately scheduled).

The first thing you probably notice is that this update is not only for Romeo but Juliet as well.  They are definitely a bonded pair. While it is not certain if they were used as a breeding pair (it is very apparent that Juliet has had several litters), or if they are littermates or what and we have asked them but they aren’t saying a word. One thing is for sure, they love one another. While at the clinic for their surgeries, they were placed in side by side runs and couldn’t see one another. They both immediately started to cry.  So, the great staff at the clinic rearranged their living quarters so that Juliet and Romeo could see one another. Once they could see one another, there were two very happy campers. Romeo is a very sweet loving guy but he is a little slower to warm up to new people. Don’t get us wrong, it doesn’t take long but it does take longer than the immediate lovefest that Juliet delivers. Like his partner in crime, another cute fact about Romeo is that he is a hugger as well. When he meets you he likes to jump up and wrap his legs around you, so that you know how much he likes you. Romeo does need to work on his inside manners a little (already started that project). We were fortunate enough to have a foster family that was willing to keep both pups together.  Being that they are so attached to each other, we will be doing everything in our power to keep them together (where they belong).  Stay tuned for the adventures of these two as we get to know them.
