12/6/2023 Update:
Remus has been ADOPTED!!!!!
Remus joined the NBBR family as an owner surrender. Remus was part of a bonded pair (See Tonks). Remus’ surrendering family had some changes to their family that wouldn’t allow them to care for Remus (and Tonks) any longer. So, they called NBBR to see if we could help find the pair a new home. Remus’ first stop after joining the NBBR family was the vet clinic. We got nothing but good news. Remus was up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and in tip top shape. Remus was neutered and released with a clean bill of health. Remus (and Tonks) are actually liter mates, so not only are they a bonded pair, there has never been a time the other wasn’t there. Due to this we had promised everyone involved that they will stay together. Remus is your typical French Bulldog. He is a little more laid back than his sister but does have personality and beyond. He is very well behaved and enjoys the company of every human he meets. Remus is a spunky little guy that is full of energy. While he and Tonks obviously get along, they need slow introductions where other dogs are involved. Remus does very well on a leash and likes car rides.
Finding a forever home for a Rescue bulldog can sometimes be a challenge, but finding a forever home for a bonded pair of Rescue bulldogs can be even more of a challenge. It takes a very special adoptive family to open their home and hearts to two bulldogs. This is exactly what we found for Remus and Tonks. The pair hit the jackpot with their new forever mom. Having had previous Bulldog experience, she knew exactly what to expect. When forever mom applied, she was thinking she wanted two pups, but her plan was to adopt one and then at a later point she would adopt a second. When she met Tonks and Remus that plan went out the window and she decided that adopting both at once was the new plan. We couldn’t be happier for all three. Congratulations to the entire family.
3/14/2023 Update:
Has decided he wants to be cuddled too. He is more playful and mischievous. He likes long naps and lots of horseplay with is sister. He is quite comfortable giving cuddles and kisses to get his favorite treats. He got a new harness too but he prefers looking out the window and smiling at the cars and barking at the neighbors walking their fur babies.
2/1/2023 Update:
Cold and wet weather makes for restless days and lots of sleep for Remus. He has spent the last week eating and napping all over the house. Remus does not like the snow. He has to be escorted out to potty because he would rather hold it than go outside and get wet. Remus seems happy that we haven’t been on our daily walks, instead he spends his time eating treats, rolling around on his back and getting belly rubs. He trots around the house and then finds a cozy spot to sleep.
1/16/2023 Update:
It has been a week of exploration and independence. Remus decided to do things on his own. He slept in later and didn’t go out to potty with his sister like he usually does. He spent time in separate rooms and took naps on his blanket away from his sister. He came around for his usual belly rubs and treats and then retreated back to his blanket. He did end up cuddling up next to his sister most nights at bedtime.
12/19/2022 Update:
Remus is slow to rise and very inquisitive. He spent his first few days getting familiar with his new space. He enjoys horseplaying with his sister and taking long naps. His favorite time of the day is treat time. Remus loves belly rubs and likes to cuddle when he thinks his sister is getting more attention than he is. Every now and then he gets a burst of energy and likes to do zoomies around the kitchen table with his sister.
