2/27/2017 Update:  Sweet Peyton had a busy week last week. She had her final heart worm check (which came back negative, yay) and was also spayed. Hopefully this Friday she will have her stitches removed and will finally be released off medical hold. She has been in a little pain from getting spayed but that didn’t bring her spirits down at all. The next day she was back up and running like the happy girl she is. We had to put a stop to it to be sure she heals correctly.  After this Friday (fingers crossed) she will be ready for her forever home!  Peyton has lost a couple of pounds which is a good thing because she was a little on the heavy side. My best guess is, she’s working on that summer body! 😂💁🏻

2/1/2017 Update: Peyton has her final heartworm checkup this Thursday. Hopefully all goes well and she’ll be released from medical hold and ready for her forever home. This girl is going to make someone very happy. Peyton is as sweet as pie!

1/16/2017 Update: Peyton is enjoying this beautiful weather. Her favorite thing to do on walks is roll around on the grass. Silly girl!

1/2/2017 Update: From Peyton’s foster mom: As I sit and type, all I hear is snoring. Peyton snoring and Jaxon snoring. With this cold weather we’ve been stuck inside with very few outside walks. Peyton’s been enjoying her Christmas toys,  dog treats and the company of both her foster fur brothers. They sure have been playing their little hearts out. Peyton gets along well with other pups but cats she’s likes to chase around. She’ll have another heart worm check up at the end of January and hopefully will be cleared. This sweet girl is ready for her Furever home. I’ll be missing her sweet kisses and snuggles!

12/25/2016 Update: Merry Christmas from Peyton. Oh this girl is spoiled rotten. Peyton loves her reserved couch area that she so gladly reserved for herself. She is such a pleasure to have around. She listens so well and I just can’t say it enough of how much of a sweetheart she is. She loves hanging on the couch, going for walks and enjoys playing with our 4 little girls. Peyton has a checkup in 30 days and hopefully those pesky worms will be a thing of the past.

12/5/2016 Update: We’ve had this sweet sweet girl for about 2.5 weeks now. We were only baby sitting her for the holidays and suddenly were given the pleasure of being her foster parents.. Not knowing much about her we could immediately tell she wasn’t in the best of health. She had a very dry ugly cough with some vomiting and her cough would last for long periods of time. It wasn’t a great site.
Peyton is now almost finished with her boat load of pills she came with. Pill after pill and finally she is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Peyton’s dry cough episodes rarely happen anymore and she hasn’t vomited at all going on a week now. She has also put on a good amount of weight. I’m sure once this sweet baby is healthy again she will make someone very happy. All Peyton longs for is to be loved on and when she’s loved on she’s in Dog Heaven!

11/18/2016 Update:  Welcome Peyton to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family.

Peyton is a five year old female Olde English Bulldog that weighs 46 lbs.  It appears that Peyton has had an up and down life up to this point.  Peyton was found as a stray and taken to a local shelter. It was a very positive sign when the shelter staff found that Peyton was microchipped AND the chip was registered.  Upon contacting the person to whom the microchip was registered, it was found that Peyton had once belonged to them but was stolen approximately three years ago. Unfortunately for Peyton the family had another dog and they no longer wanted her.

The shelter staff was required to keep Peyton in the shelter for at least 7 days to determine if her latest “owners” would come forward to claim her. Fortunately, those “owners” did not come forward in the allotted time and Peyton was placed under a rescue hold. After doing an evaluation on Peyton, the shelter staff determined that she was very sick and needed to be released to a breed specific rescue. They contact NBBR to see if we had room to help Peyton. We did, and that was the day Peyton’s life changed for the better.

Once the Peyton’s health was evaluated, it was determined that she was a STRONG Heartworm positive AND that she bronchitis/possible pneumonia.  The shelter immediately released Peyton to NBBR so that we could start her treatment.  Upon her initial visit to our clinic we did confirm that she was heartworm positive AND that the bronchitis was actually pneumonia. This explained why she was having such a hard time breathing and would have dry heaves at times.  Peyton also has intestinal worms, skin infection and is extremely underweight.

In addition to Peyton’s physical issues, she may have had some emotional traumas in her past as well. Peyton is very timid and appears to have been possibly beaten sometime in the past.  It is also very apparent that she was used for a breeding program and has had many litters.

After spending 3 days at the clinic to be treated for her pneumonia and heartworms it was determined that Peyton was well enough to be released.  So, last night Peyton was able to meet her new foster mom.  Based on Peyton’s reaction, this is a match made in heaven.  Her foster Mom will be able to give her the TLC that she needs to help her trust in the good of humans again.

Even though Peyton has a long list of medical and emotional issues to overcome before she is completely healthy we are very confident that she is on her way to becoming the Bulldog that she was always meant to be.  Once off of medical hold, Peyton will begin the next chapter in her journey, finding a forever family that can and will love her for just her.
