4/17/2017 Update:  Maxwell has gone missing. He was let out to use the restroom and when his foster family went to check on him, he was gone. We have contacted local shelters, vets, posted flyers in the neighborhood as well as on social media. We will be leaving him on the website in the hopes that someone might see him and contact us.  If you have any information that might lead to Maxwell being returned please contact us at 214-235-6494 or info@nobordersbulldogrescue.org.

3/27/2017 Update: Maxwell is full of energy and is very much an attention hog. He likes being the center of attention when there is a crowd.

He has also learned how to be a clearance shopper at Petsmart after he gets a good report from a bath!

3/20/2017 Update:  Maxwell is doing great! We have learned he loves to play in the water! He is absolutely silly with his toys.. Loves every squeaky toy and likes to rip the squeaky piece out.

He also likes to pull his blanket out of his crate and fall asleep on them. 🙂

3/13/2017 Update:  Maxwell is doing great! He has completely taken over every room, couch, bed, and chair in the house! Oh and he loves to help clean up the flower beds!

3/6/2017 Update: Maxwell has had a great week! He loves going to the dog park and playing with other dogs that are his size or smaller. He’s not a huge fan of bigger dogs. He just stays away from them.

He also loves car rides and like going to pick up our daughter from school. He likes giving all the kids kisses! He’s a big kisser! He has done great with other people coming up to him to pet him.

Maxwell is always a joy to be around! He gets so excited when we come in the door and shakes his butt around with excitement, even if you walk back in from just getting the mail.

He has come a very long way in just a little over a month!

2/27/2017 Update: Maxwell has had quite the adventure this week! He has done amazing on a leash! He knows as soon as we grab it, he goes straight for the front door!

He did great at the dog park without a leash as well. He was a social butterfly when it came to dog that were about his size .. he wasn’t to sure about dogs that were bigger than him, but he would just walk away… he did listen on command when we would call for him.
He also has done great at a doggy day camp this week. He likes to be center of attention and play with everyone.
He loves car rides!!
He was very popular when we took him to Petsmart for some treats and a new toy he picked out! The more they squeak the more excited he got.
His eyes are really cleared up and look very well!
He has been doing really great with our 4 year old. He loves chasing her and playing in the backyard. He like when she throws his ball. But doesn’t like to give it back..
He has also done great with other children around, when we either go on walks or just the neighborhood kids playing all together outside. He will just sit still and let them love on him. And he tryst to give them kisses.

2/14/2017 Update:   Maxwell has done great on his daily walks with a leash. He has done pretty good with other people and dogs outside.. he just stares at them.. he doesn’t try to charge after them.. he will chase our little one in the backyard if she runs.

He love to play tug a war with a rope or a squeaky toy. He loves getting new toys. Loves to play ball inside or outside.
He did get his first bath this week and did really good as long as I had him on a small leash and shut the bathroom door. He is not a big fan of the brush it’s self,  UT if I use finger tips he is fine.
Maxwell also does great with taking all of his antibiotics. We put them on top of his food in the mornings, and he does not spit them up at all.

2/8/2017 Update:  Update on Maxwell. His favorite color is red! He loves to play ball and play with his Kong bear! He has done great with not having accidents in the house, the first 2 days there were a lot of accidents. But he does now go and sit at the back door when he needs outside.

After his cherry eye surgery he seems to have a ton more energy. And is running around inside and likes to play outside. He does now like to cuddle on the couch and loves belly scratches.
He definitely listens on command when you have treats in hand. He does like to sit after you you say it about 3-4 times.
He has broke out of his shyness and let you know will let you know he is in the room.
Maxwell does great when going to bed at night. We tell him it’s night night time and walk to his crate and he gets in and will lay down. (His snoring is so cute)He is also a frequent day napper.
2/2/2017 Update:  Please welcome Maxwell to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family.

Maxwell is a 10 month old male English Bulldog that weighs 50 lbs.  Maxwell and his two sisters joined the NBBR family yesterday from a “hobby” breeder situation.  The family bred their male and female Bulldog to sell the puppies to friends and family members. They were only expecting 3-4 puppies but had 8. They were able to sell 5 of the puppies but were left with 3 remaining.  Initially they planned on keeping them, but due to the chaos of having more than 7 dogs in one house they decided to get rid of the three “puppies”.   Good samaritans worked with the breeder to get the dogs and then surrendered them to rescue.

It appears Maxwell has had a very rough first 10 months of his life. As you can see from the pictures he has a HORRIBLE case of cherry eye and what looks like a bacterial infection of the eye as well.  He and sisters all have the same eye conditions. Due to the condition of his eyes he currently does not see well. Maxwell is very timid and appears to have been physically abused. Maxwell cringes in fear when there are loud noises or fast movements around him.  The good news is he has a very sweet personality and he just needs time to learn to trust humans again.  He responds very well to calm, soft tones.  When we first picked him up he was a nervous mess. But after spending 4-5 hours with our volunteer, Maxwell was actually standing on the console and licking his transporters’ face.

Maxwell made an immediate trip to the vet to get medication for his eyes and to get a preliminary checkup.  Everything appears to be good. He is scheduled to have surgery for his cherry eye condition early next week. Based on what looks like months of neglect he will most likely be on eye drops the remainder of his life.

Maxwell is resting at his new foster home where he is adjusting well.  His new family is giving him plenty of rest and a nice calm environment for him to heal both physically and mentally.  This little guy has just begun on his road to complete recovery and, while we are sure he will be an amazing addition to someone’s forever family, it is going to take a lot of TLC and patience to get him to associate humans with love and not abuse. Please keep Maxwell and his sisters in your thoughts and prayers as they begin to heal.
