We have contacted local shelters, vets, posted flyers in the neighborhood as well as on social media. We will be leaving him on the website in the hopes that someone might see him and contact us. If you have any information that might lead to Maxwell being returned please contact us at 214-235-6494 or info@nobordersbulldogrescue.org.

He also loves car rides and like going to pick up our daughter from school. He likes giving all the kids kisses! He’s a big kisser! He has done great with other people coming up to him to pet him.
Maxwell is always a joy to be around! He gets so excited when we come in the door and shakes his butt around with excitement, even if you walk back in from just getting the mail.
He has come a very long way in just a little over a month!

Maxwell is a 10 month old male English Bulldog that weighs 50 lbs. Maxwell and his two sisters joined the NBBR family yesterday from a “hobby” breeder situation. The family bred their male and female Bulldog to sell the puppies to friends and family members. They were only expecting 3-4 puppies but had 8. They were able to sell 5 of the puppies but were left with 3 remaining. Initially they planned on keeping them, but due to the chaos of having more than 7 dogs in one house they decided to get rid of the three “puppies”. Good samaritans worked with the breeder to get the dogs and then surrendered them to rescue.
It appears Maxwell has had a very rough first 10 months of his life. As you can see from the pictures he has a HORRIBLE case of cherry eye and what looks like a bacterial infection of the eye as well. He and sisters all have the same eye conditions. Due to the condition of his eyes he currently does not see well. Maxwell is very timid and appears to have been physically abused. Maxwell cringes in fear when there are loud noises or fast movements around him. The good news is he has a very sweet personality and he just needs time to learn to trust humans again. He responds very well to calm, soft tones. When we first picked him up he was a nervous mess. But after spending 4-5 hours with our volunteer, Maxwell was actually standing on the console and licking his transporters’ face.
Maxwell made an immediate trip to the vet to get medication for his eyes and to get a preliminary checkup. Everything appears to be good. He is scheduled to have surgery for his cherry eye condition early next week. Based on what looks like months of neglect he will most likely be on eye drops the remainder of his life.
Maxwell is resting at his new foster home where he is adjusting well. His new family is giving him plenty of rest and a nice calm environment for him to heal both physically and mentally. This little guy has just begun on his road to complete recovery and, while we are sure he will be an amazing addition to someone’s forever family, it is going to take a lot of TLC and patience to get him to associate humans with love and not abuse. Please keep Maxwell and his sisters in your thoughts and prayers as they begin to heal.
