10/19/2022 Update:
Lily was ADOPTED!!!!! It is with great pleasure that we can announce Lily has met her forever family and started her “happily ever after”.
Lily joined the NBBR family as a stray via a good Samaritan. Lily had been spotted roaming a neighborhood for a week or so. She was very skittish and very elusive. So, while our good Samaritans tried to win her over and catch Lily, they took a picture from afar and posted on social media hoping to reunite Lily with her family. The days grew and Lily was still being able to outrun or out dodge every attempt at capture AND no replies of a missing Bulldog. Lily’s good Samaritans were PERSISTENT, they kept at it and FINALLY they were able to catch Lily. Once caught she was a different dog, she loved them and was a “super sweet” dog. Lily’s good Samaritans did everything right when they found a stray dog. They immediately made her feel comfortable and gave her some space to decompress. They then scheduled an appointment with a local veterinarian to see if she had a microchip and nothing. The vet did a quick physical exam as well. It looked like Lily had recently given birth to a litter of puppies. She was no longer lactating but there were physical signs of birthing and nursing recently. The vet also thought she was probably dumped based on the general area where she came from, it was close to an area known for dumping pets.
7/18/2022 Update:
Lily is not getting to play much outside due to Texas extreme heat this summer, which she is not a fan of it interrupts her chasing squirrels. She has been a little sad because her foster fur brother passed away. He was the only animal she liked and did not mind being around. We have a kiddie pool for her which she is also not a fan, and then we tried a mister, the same result. She is lovable, sweet and a miss prissy. Like, a lot of bulldogs in rescue they did not have a good, loving family – Lily was one of those. She gets plenty of love now. She is an angel, how bulldogs like her can be so loving when they have been abused and dumped I will never know.
6/27/2022 Update:
Lily has had enough of last week. It has been above one hundred all week and FM will not let her sunbathe or play outside. She gets to go out to potty, so she wears a long face all the way into the house. She thinks if she looks pitiful I will feel bad. Just have Ms. Lily’s best interest at heart.
While Lily likes rain and does mind going out to potty, the thunder and lightening scare her to death. Lily wants to remind everyone that fireworks scare us fur babies so help us to stay safe and inside where we will be comfortable. FF says just a quick trip outside to take care of business and that is it.
6/13/2022 Update:
Lily is a joy to her FF; she is so sweet and loving if she likes you. FF has had men working at our home and she does not like any of them. This small girl scares them, she acts aggressive but she has never been. Lily needs slow introductions to people, she has major trust issues. She sounds a lot like some of us humans… Missy wants to be outside all the time even in the 100+ temperatures of course FF is not going to let that happen.
We keep foam plates to eat on occasion so when I give the foster kiddos a snack like banana slices, cucumber slices, etc. I will put them on a plate. Lily is so cute she will put one of her paws on the corner of the plate to hold it down while she enjoys her snack. She is one smart girl. There is never a dull moment with Lily around. She brings a sparkle to our life.
5/23/2022 Update:
Lily loves to play outside all the time, she gets quite the workout when it is not too hot. She doesn’t mind a light rain. Car rides are her favorite – she doesn’t care where we go just wants to go along.
5/9/2022 Update:
Lily is doing great, although she thinks FM is a meanie. She wants to be outdoors all the time, but with the Texas heat that’s a NO little lady. The fireflies are now out in the evening and she believes they are a tasty snack. Yes she caught one.
4/18/2022 Update:
Lily received a toy dog bone which she loves but after playing with it a bit, she decided she needed to take it outdoors. Well Missy dug a hole and buried it apparently to keep it safe. She buried it so well FM cannot even find it…..
Lily and Sampson had a special Easter treat as they went to their groomer for a spa day. They love their groomer and they looked great. When they got home they were tuckered out so they took a little nap. Lily does not mind going out to potty in the rain if it is light. We had quite the thunderstorm and the loud thunder was a little too scary for her so she ran for the door.
Lily does not like for her people to leave; she usually is waiting by the garage door when we come back. She is always FM’s little shadow.
4/11/2022 Update:
Lily is skittish, it is like she is waiting for the ball of drop. Since Lily does not like toys of any kind, we decided to try a ball. She is absolutely scared of the ball and runs away. We hate at her early age she feels this way. She feels comfortable with us but it is like the left foot is going to drop next. We must help her feel even safer and help her know that all people are not bad or abusive.
She loves to be with both FM and FD. Most evenings she will hop up by FD and watch TV. She loves to play with the brown beetles that fly around on the patio at night attracted to the lights. Lily may try to be catching them to eat but when she touches them they tickle her and she pulls away.
Lily is excited about Easter and can’t wait for the Easter Bunny to come to her FF’s home. She wonders what goodies will he bring her.
3/28/2022 Update:
Cover girl Lily is enjoying life. She is learning what her life should have been all along,
cared for and loved. Lily feels safe in her foster home and is looking through
applications for that perfect forever family who will love and care for her. Sometimes she acts and sounds like a barracuda but she is far from it. Sweetness and playful are this
girl’s nature.
Lily is afraid of trash bags and especially when you shake one out, she backs away.
She has had a few head tremor incidents, but they go away as soon as you give her a
couple of treats. We are keeping an eye on this situation, but currently we are being told they are idiopathic. She deserves to have a loving caring family who will make her feel safe. Get your application in soon before someone else beats you to her.
3/14/2022 Update:
Lily is constantly on the go. She loves to be active especially in the backyard running well mainly chasing the crazy squirrels. We do have to leave the backyard when the small yakking neighbors dogs come out, she sounds and acts like she is in attack mode.
We took Lily to Funky Picnic and Brewery for an event with NBBR. This was her first event and for the first hour she was barking and in attack mode with the other dogs. She loves people and they are welcome to pet her, she loves the attention. After an hour she settled down and was quiet, but she was on the opposite side from the other bulldogs. Lily did pose for a picture that the social media person from Funky Picnic wanted for their Instagram account.
3/7/2022 Update:
Lily loved the weather and wanted to play outside all the time. She likes to hunt and chase the resident squirrels. While she gets along with Sampson that’s a NO on other dogs and animals in general. Not sure what happened prior to her coming to rescue that could have caused this but it is what it is. She is totally worth being part of a good family 👪 though.
2/27/2022 Update:
Lily does not mind the cold at all. She loves to play in the backyard and if you would let her, she would be out there all day. The FF lets her go out a lot as she loves to run. In fact, this last Thursday we had some ice, and the backyard was perfect for her to run and slide. When it was time to come in, she ran in and slid across the patio. She was so proud of herself.
This week Lily had her first spa day and she loved it. Well, loved it except for nail trim. She loves to be catered to and wants all the attention. She competes with her foster brother for FM and/or FD’s attention. Lily is looking for that perfect forever family.
2/20/2022 Update:
Lily the quirky girl is a bundle of joy. We are learning new things about her each day. She is hungry 24/7 but we are careful with food and treats. You can eat her meal and then goes looking for more food. Each time we go outside she is constantly looking for stuff to eat whether it be leaves, dirt, and whatever else she can find so you must keep a watchful eye on her. She also tries to eat bark, but we stop her of course. Don’t ever leave a box or brown paper bag where it is accessible to her it will be destroyed.
Lily is still young and learning. She is a little hard-headed and stubborn. There are signs that she was probably abused as well as being bred very young. She always watches carefully to see what you have in your hands. We you are carrying an object she shies away from you, almost like she is expecting you to hit her with it. When we come inside she wary like she expects you to shut the door on her. Lucy has a lot to overcome but she is the sweetest girl and wants you attention. She is looking for her special forever family.
2/7/2022 Update:
Lily was spayed and is recovering well. Her stitches will come out very soon. She will be
happy so she can run around. She loves the snow. Lily is like a hound dog sniffing
around the ground for treasures whatever they may be. She loves bananas,
watermelon, pineapple, green beans, sweet potatoes and butternut squash. These are
her treats.
Sometimes Lily will run around in a circle as if to catch something.
Lily needs a lot of attention or rather wants a lot of attention. She doesn’t seem to like or
want any toys. She probably never had any before. Playtime is a must not only alone
but with you. She doesn’t like any animals whether she hears them outside or sees
them on TV they drive her crazy. It is not just dogs it is any animal including horses,
cows, ostrich, Dumbo, and Mickey Mouse. They don’t have to make a sound just seeing
them drives her over the edge. She is a sweet and loving girl even with her quirks.
1/24/2022 Update:
Lily is loving life at her foster home, she has a big backyard to run, climb, and play in.
She loves to chase the squirrels. You can’t leave food of any kind on counters, tables,
etc. she will jump up and indulge herself. Lily also remembers where you put stuff such
as treats. She is one smart cookie.
Lily is tolerating her foster fur brother; they don’t get in each other’s way. It may be
possible to slowly introduce her to another dog, but I still think she will be better off as
an only pet. She is very active and a bundle of joy. Lily has soulful eyes and some may
say a little sad looking, but she is happy. She is looking for her forever home just like all
No Borders Bulldog Rescue fosters.
1/17/2022 Update:
Lily is such a joy as well as a sweet and smart little girl. She is high energy and very agile as well. Lily can jump, climb, bounce/hop on all fours and runs like the wind. Her ideal adoptive family would have a large backyard, high fence (8 ft) and have lots of time to play with her. If you can only spend an hour here and there she is not right for you. Her forever family must be energetic and very active. She seems to love people, but sometimes needs it to be a slow introduction. She would do better as the only pet in the family. Any interaction with other animals need to be a slow process. While she has a foster fur-brother they haven’t been left alone but after a slow introduction they are doing well. Lily barks if she hears other dogs and sees them also. She will bark and growl at the TV when any type of animal is on whether they are making any noises or not. Unlike most English Bulldogs she is not afraid of vacuums. Lily loves to cuddle and lay on her FM’s lap.
1/10/2022 Update:
Please welcome Lily to No Borders Bulldog Rescue. Lily is a one and a half-year-old female English Bulldog that weighs approximately 43 lbs.
Lily joins the NBBR family as a stray via a good Samaritan. They then scheduled an appointment with a local veterinarian to see if she had a microchip-NADA. The vet also did a quick physical exam as well. It looks like Lily had recently given birth to a litter of puppies. She is no longer lactating but there are physical signs of birthing and nursing recently. The vet also thought she was probably dumped based on the general area where she came from, it was close to an area known for dumping pets. Lily’s good Samaritans knew that they couldn’t keep her (if no one responded to the social media posts), they already had their hands full with a young puppy and their plates were full. They thought that their only option would be to take Lily to the local pound. Then they received a response on social media. The response was from a NBBR foster family that lived in their neighborhood and saw the post on Nextdoor and gave them our information. They made an initial contact and….the rest is history. The local foster family already had a foster, but they thought that if both pups approved that they would be able to help Lily. A quick introductory meeting was scheduled (since they were so close) and all appeared to go well. So, it was determined that they would be Lily’s new foster family.
Lily’s first stop was the clinic to see what treatments would be necessary. We knew that she would need to be spayed and vaccinations but other than that, we weren’t sure what would be needed. We were pleasantly surprised to get the news that Lily was both Heartworm negative AND her fecal exam came back negative as well. We were able to bring all of her vaccines up to date. Lily is a bit on the thin side, we are going to chalk that up to the last few months that she has endured. With a healthy dose of TLC and a couple extra treats here and there, we are sure that Lily will be back to her ideal form. Lily is scheduled for her spay surgery in a couple of weeks. This was the first available appointment. Covid is really kicking the clinics backside and they have been slammed. We think the extra few days is a good thing as it will give Lily time to gain a few pounds and build up some extra strength for her recovery period.
Lily is currently very cautious when encountering new people and pets. We can only imagine that this is due to the “adventure” that she has been on for the last few months. Pregnancy, birth, nursing, being abandoned, being homeless and not knowing where you next meal is coming, being chased, wrangled into a strange how, visiting two strange vets’ office where she was poked and if that wasn’t enough… going to ANOTHER home. That would make anyone a tad bit nervous. We are hoping that once Lily is able to join her foster family and relax and unwind that she is able to let her guard down and be the fun-loving Bulldog that we know is in there. While cautious during her initial meetings Lily does warm up fairly quickly. There is one thing that we noticed with Lily, when she does warm up it is typically faster towards men. While she appears to like everyone, she does have a soft spot for the guys, and it is apparent to those around her. Another thing that it doesn’t take long to notice is that Lily is an athletic young lady. She loves to be outside and running. Chasing a ball, a squirrel or just running for no apparent reason, but she does enjoy the great outdoors. This athleticism may explain a few things about her: why she is so thin AND why she was so hard to catch. Currently Lily is relaxing with her new foster family. From all reports things are going well and she is adjusting to the daily routine and her new surroundings. Stay tuned for more updates on Lily as her foster family learns more details of what makes her tick. We will use those details to find the perfect forever home for her. Not necessarily the perfect home for everyone, but it will be the perfect home for Lily.
