Jaxon

Jaxon

Breed: Olde English Bulldog

Sex: Male

Age: 2 yrs. old

Weight: 65 lbs.

2/22/2017 Update:  Jaxon was ADOPTED!!!!!  As Jaxon’s foster mom writes: Today is a bitter sweet day. 5 months ago today we took in a foster name Jaxon who was in critical condition. It had appeared that Jaxon was either in a dog fight or attacked by something. His face, eyes and ears were swollen and severely infected. In addition Jaxon was covered in fleas, had several skin infections and was emaciated. I came to tears the moment No Borders Bulldog Rescue posted him. But I knew that we had to take him in and Foster him. I knew in order for him to survive that he would need a lot of love and care in order to nurse him back to health. With 4 little girls I knew our family could do it. This guy was scared of humans and other animals. It was so heart breaking to see all this first hand. Fast forward to today. This guy is thriving. He loves, loves children, dogs and cats. He’s really come a long way. This guy is no longer heart worm+ and the majority of his fur has grown back. Jaxon has grown into this huge loving sweetheart and I’m so happy our family could be apart of it.  I am so happy Jaxon was able to get the healthcare he needed. I am so happy Jaxon has found the perfect forever home.

Jaxon’s new forever Dad lost his best Bulldog buddy awhile ago and was waiting on the right time to open his heart to another Bulldog. While he had never rescued a Bulldog before, something was telling him this was what he needed to do.  He submitted his application and began the approval process. Throughout the entire process Jaxon did not catch his eye. In fact another NBBR Bulldog caught his eye. After discussing the personality and unique features of both Bulldogs, it was decided that he would meet Jaxon and see  how things went.  To say that it was love at first sight is an understatement.  AND it was from both sides of the equation.  Jaxon, who is typically reserved when meeting new people, went immediately to his new Dad and the rest is history.  It was as if Jaxon was saying ‘what took you so long”? We know for a fact that this the beginning of a lot of walks, belly rubs, chilling at home and many road trips between these two best buds.

Congratulations to both Jaxon and his new forever Dad.

2/1/2017 Update:   Don’t let Jaxs’ size fool you. This guy is the biggest cuddle buddy you’ll ever meet. If you listen closely you can hear Jax telling his foster dad to love on him. Also keep an eye on his tail. It’s the cutest, smallest, wagging, happy tail you’ll ever see!!!!

1/16/2017 Update:

Jax here. I’ve been spending a lot of time outdoors in this beautiful weather. My foster mom likes taking me to the park to play fetch but we had to take a timeout since I like to run away (we’re currently working with Jax on this) I guess he likes his moment of freedom. In the mean time I’ve been spending time in the yard with my foster fur brother. Connected to our house is a park and Jax gets spoiled with love from all the little children next door.

1/3/2017 Update: Look at this oversized handsome fur baby. 😍 Jaxon decided he’s not a fan of cold weather and for the past  three days has made the couch his home. That’s right this guy won’t move a muscle unless it’s to potty. If you look closely you’ll see a wet spot on the couch…… Yep, you guessed it right, that’s Jaxon’s drool! 😂 #JaxonTheDogDrooler patiently awaiting his Furever home.

12/25/2016 Update: Jaxon had a glorious Christmas with all the dog treats and soft toys he could handle and extra love from strangers he’s never met before. His foster sisters sure have been keeping him busy and although he’s a boy sometimes he has to endure the occasional hair bow on his collar, thanks to our 2 year old. For Christmas Jaxon received some great news and tested Negative on his heartworm follow-up. I can’t believe I’m saying it but this guy is ready for his Furever Happy Home….. He deserves it!

11/27/2016 Update: I have to start by saying having Jaxon around is such a Joy. He loves being loved on and is just a huge sweetheart. This guy has the energy of a toddler. It’s such a breath of fresh air to see him so happy compared to this time a couple of months ago. This handsome pup had a great Thanksgiving. He made a new cat friend as well as human friends. I would love to say that his favorite part was all the food but NOPE it was putting up his first Christmas tree.

11/14/2016 Update:  Jaxon is enjoying the cooler weather and his 4 human foster sisters. They give him all the love and attention that any Bulldog could ever want.  Jaxon goes back to the clinic later this week to begin round two of his heartworm treatment. This treatment, like the first, will be followed by 30 days of crate rest.  At the end of 30 days, he will go back to the clinic to be tested again and hopefully all the heartworms will be gone. If this is the case, he will be neutered and then he will be ready to find his forever home.

Jaxon has gained some of the weight that he so desperately needed. Jaxon is a very mellow guy with a very laid back personality. It has been so great to see him blossom and come our of his shell as his health continues to improve.  Things will only get better as he gains a few more pounds and gets rid of those horrible heartworms once and for all.

10/31/2016 Update: Jax here. I’m still battling these heart worms so I’ve been keeping it very low key. A lot of laying around and eating is what I’ve been doing. My foster mom, dad and sisters do however designate one day out the week for some play time. I like to be very active but for now I need to focus on getting better. My favorite thing to do on my fun day is to run around the house in circles, play fetch and roll on the floor with my foster sisters. I do like to chew and tear up what’s given to me but it’s a work in progress. Thankfully my foster family find it funny. I’m also learning how to sit on command. I’m getting healthier by the day and packing on some weight. Today I took a nice warm bath. Not because I had to but because I decided to jump in the tub and not move. ” Hey who said a dog can’t have his way.” 😜

10/24/2016 Update: Jax here. After a 3 day stay at the vet I’m back home at my foster parents. I did get some bad news. I’m HW+ among a couple other things but nothing that will hold me back. My foster mom says I’m already looking great and I’m night and day compared to when she first saw me. I’m finally eating dog food, taking walks outside without getting tired and being active with my foster family. I enjoy all the love my foster sisters are giving me. These mini humans share their toys with me, pick flowers for me and my foster mom let’s me use her as a chair…… What more could a dog ask for!!! I also want to thank you for all the support and doggie prayers you have given me.

10/19/2016 Update: Jaxon visited the clinic yesterday to be neutered and have a general physical. It was determined that he is anemic, has intestinal parasites AND if that wasn’t bad enough, he is heart worm positive. He will start immediately on treatment for all his conditions. He will stay at the clinic the next 3 days where he will start his heart worm treatment. The first step will be to give him a larvacide treatment to kill larvae. Then he will receive the next treatment which is designed to kill the adult worms present. Once this is complete, Jaxon will return to his home to rest for the next 30 days. After the initial 30 days of rest, he will have one more treatment and another 30 days of crate rest. At the end of this treatment he will be tested again to be sure he is 100% heart worm free. In the meantime he will be on antibiotics, a steroid, vitamins and medication for his intestinal parasites. We have decided that it is best that we wait on the neuter until he is heart worm negative and strong enough for the surgery.

Although this is a lengthy list of medical issues, there isn’t anything that can’t be cured with some time and TLC. Jaxon is a fighter and has a great personality. He has already made HUGE improvements in a very short time. We are confident that he will be 100% healthy and ready for his forever home after his heart worm treatment.

10/12/2016 Update: Please welcome Jaxon into the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family.  Jaxon is an approximately 2 year old male English Bulldog that was found as a stray and taken to a shelter.  Once he arrived at the shelter, he was held for several days to see if his previous owners would claim him.  Be it good or bad, his previous owners did not claim him and NBBR was notified and asked if we could help.

Now, for those of you that follow NBBR, you might have noticed a trend in that the Bulldogs are typically located many miles and hours away from us. WELL… Jaxon is no exception. Jaxon is approximately 7 hours from his new foster home. Fear not, our PHENOMENAL group of volunteers have already stepped up to get this little guy to where he needs to be.

Jaxon’s journey hit a small speedbump today when he was released from the shelter. Upon pick-up our volunteer was told that he was in CRITICAL condition and needed to be seen by an ER vet as soon as possible.  When he was picked up at the shelter he couldn’t walk and was rolled out on a cart. We later found out that he had been given some pain medication at the shelter which was why he couldn’t walk. Our volunteer quickly took the shelter staff’s advice and Jaxon was seen by a vet within the hour.  It appears that Jaxon was either in a dog fight or attacked by something. His face, eyes and ears are all swollen and severely infected. In addition to these findings Jaxon is covered in fleas, has several skin infections and is emaciated. The good news is that the vet was able to get Jaxon started on antibiotics, anti-inflammatory and flea medication.

This is just the beginning for Jaxon. He will stay at the clinic tonight and then will begin the 7 hour journey north so that he can make a stop at our partner vet. At our vet, he will be tested for Heartworms (keep your fingers crossed he is negative), intestinal parasites and receive all his necessary vaccines. He will also have a full blood panel done on him to determine if there are additional issues that will need to be addressed. IF that list weren’t long enough, he will need to be neutered as well.

Despite the laundry list of medical concerns that Jaxon has, there doesn’t appear to be anything that some time and TLC won’t cure. Jaxon appears to be a very friendly and loving bulldog. We will obviously learn more about him in the coming weeks. Once his medical issues have been addressed,  he will then begin the next chapter in his journey… finding a forever home.
