9/1/2018 Update:
Harper was ADOPTED!!!! Our “little old lady” has found her forever family and couldn’t be happier.
Harper joined the NBBR ranks as a stray. She was found wandering the streets alone by a good Samaritan that immediately saw she needed help. After taking Harper in and making sure she was safe, her rescuing family tried to find her owners. They posted online, contacted local shelters and took her to the vet to determine if she was microchipped. There was a flash of hope when at the vet. Good news…. Harper did have a microchip, however the microchip was registered to her original breeder. The breeder had since retired and did not have any records of Harper. The next thing her rescuing family did was contact a NBBR volunteer to ask if we could help Harper by taking her in and allowing her to get the necessary veterinary care she needed. The answer was ABSOLUTELY. After several months of much needed TLC, Harper blossomed into the Bulldog she was always meant to be.
Harper has gained the nickname as NBBR’s “Little old Lady”. It was apparent Harper needed and wanted a quiet, low energy forever home. Harper found just that, however she now has a foster sister (also a NBBR alumna) that does not care if Harper is “older”. Forever Sister likes to play and roughhouse with Harper just like she was a youngster, and guess what??? Harper can hold her own and loves to play. Although her play sessions tend to be short and quickly followed by a nap. Harper and her sister also love to sit on their Mom’s lap and snuggle. Congratulations to Harper, her new forever sister and forever Mom. Thank you for opening your hearts and homes to a little old French Bulldog lady and allowing her to spend her golden years surrounded by love and happiness.
6/4/2018 Update:
I don’t know about you, but I loved the rain and the cooler weather it brought. Foster Mom said it was finally cool enough to go out for an evening stroll. And as you can see, we stroll in style. FM says all diva pups travel this way.
I have been doing very good with my manners and taking my eye medicine. You can hardly tell which eye is the bad one. FM got me some steps to make it easier to get up on the bed and the couch. My old legs just don’t have the spring in them they used to have so she makes life as easy on me as possible. I love how much attention I get. We’re just two old gals enjoying our laid back lives.
4/9/2018 Update:
Hello friends 👋🏻 Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve posted but foster mom had surgery. She said we were being couch potatoes 🥔 whatever that means.
Life has been good 😊I’m continuing to be the perfect house guest, or so I’m told. My eye is better but I still do my meds every day. I get a treat so it’s a win win. Allergies are setting in and I chew on my feet sometimes so foster mom gives me medicine and puts socks on me to help relieve the itch. I’m so spoiled 😍.
We are preparing for spring and starting to spend a bit more time outside before it gets too hot for me. I love to just be wherever foster mom is. She has even started reading her books out loud to me since she’s convinced I’m listening. 😂
I’m a good girl with a sweet soul. I love to cuddle and just be with my human. I take my meds, go potty outside, sleep all night and even crate up when necessary. Foster mom says I’m a true lap dog 🐶 and beautiful inside and out.

2/1/2018 Update:
Miss Harper here… I’m looking for love this Valentines Day. I need the love of my very own forever family. ❤
I’ve been doing very well. My appetite is awesome and my weight is a healthy 20 pounds now. I am a very good girl about going outside to potty (even though I don’t like the cold). I still have to get drops in my eyes each day but I take them like a champ. My favorite thing to do is just be cuddled. I follow my foster mom around like her shadow until she sits down and holds me in her lap. I just can’t get attention. I am a great sleeper too. I will stay curled up in the bed all night until morning.
I don’t really play with toys. That’s for the younger girls and boys. I am just a laid back gal looking for a laid back family to call mine.
Will you be my forever Valentine?

12/3/2017 Update:
Harper here in my cozy Christmas sweater that my foster mom got for me. Life has been good these past few weeks. I’ve been getting lots of love and plenty of food.
I saw Dr. H today and he was very pleased with my progress. I’ve gained another pound (I’m over 19 pounds now) and my skin and ears look great. There is still more pressure in my left eye than he would like so FM will continue the eye meds. I don’t mind the eye drops because I get a treat for sitting still and being a good girl while she puts them in.
I’m still not one to play with toys but FM says that’s ok because I’m the best at cuddling. I’m doing really well at going to the potty outside but I haven’t learned to alert when I need to go so frequent trips outside are necessary. I’m doing fantastic at walking on a leash but I do have moments where I put the brakes on. FM says I do that so she will pick me up and carry me.
FM says I can ask Santa for my very own family and my wish may come true.
11/26/2017 Update:
Miss Harper had a follow up visit with Dr. H today and it was all good news. She’s gained another pound, her ears are nice and cleaned up and best news yet… her eye is looking amazing (considering where we started from). Dr. H feels confident we are out of the woods and her eye has been saved. She is permanently blind in that eye but the swelling, pressure and redness has gone down significantly.
We are dealing with some slight skin allergies but nothing unusual for a bully breed.
I can’t say enough about this precious girl. She takes everything in stride and just desires as much love as she can get. A real cuddle bug and perfect lap dog.
11/12/2017 Update:
Here is Miss Harper taking a lesson from the master Hope on how to hang your tongue out. I think Harper is a fast learner.
Harper continues to be a joy to have around and is her foster mom’s shadow. She’s very laid back and just goes with the flow. She will even stand still so her foster sister Hope can run circles around her. She’s not interested in playing but doesn’t mind being part of Hope’s antics. She had slowed down on her eating for a few days so some adjustments were made and she is back to asking for seconds. She will be a plump little lady in no time.
Her eye seems to be stable and Harper has no problems with having eye drops put in or taking any meds. She had a couple of hot spots pop up so foster mom gave her a medicated bath and Harper just acted as though she was at the spa. Harper has a follow up with Dr. H next week to check her eye and get weighed. We bet he is impressed with this girl’s progress.
Harper enjoys to be touched and is always willing to cuddle.
11/4/2017 Update: We are here at Dr. H’s today checking on Harper’s eye. Foster mom has been diligent about giving her the eye drops and Harper takes them like a champ. FM is still medicating her ears and cleaning them as well. Dr. H is hopeful that he can save her eye. He believes the recent care from FM has made some difference and there is a better chance to keep the eye. It is blind but the pressure is stable and there is no pain. She does have a bit of a yeast infection in her ears that Dr. H picked up on by smell. He gave us some new meds for that too. Harper has put on weight in one week and now weighs almost 17 pounds. All in all Harper tolerated everything very well and seems to know we are all just trying to take care of her.
FM says she loves to eat. She is good at pottying outside but doesn’t alert yet so you just have to take her out regularly. She has no idea what a leash is and is not found of it but FM is working on that gently each day. She rides in the car like a pro and loves her bath. Harper lives for attention and will follow you around the house. She sleeps all night in the bed and is a true cuddler.
This girl is a diamond in the rough and will be a shining gem in no time.
10/28/2017 Update: Please welcome Harper to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family. Harper is a 9 year old female French Bulldog that weighs 15 lbs.
Once officially in the safety of her temporary foster family, she was named Harper. A fresh name for a fresh start. Harper visited the clinic to determine what care/treatment she would need. The first thing noted was that Harper would need medication for her eye. Harper’s eye was severely infected and had 3 times the normal pressure. She was immediately started on antibiotic drops to see if this would help. Initial thoughts are that Harper will most likely have to have her eye removed, but we are still hopeful she will fight like a Frenchie and prove the docs wrong. In addition to the eye infection Harper has an ear infection and is very underweight. The vet told us Harper needs to gain at least 4 lbs. While that might not sound like a lot, it is approximately 30% of Harper’s entire current body weight.
We did receive some good news from the clinic. Harper is Heartworm negative as well as negative for intestinal parasites. Harper was discharged with several medications for her ailments and instructions to get plenty of rest and gain weight.
Harper may be the SWEETEST Bulldog EVER!!!! She wants nothing more than to sit in your lap and soak in all the attention she can get. A few of the things we have learned about Harper so far are: she doesn’t like to walk on a leash, her preferred mode of transportation is to be carried. She has met cats, dogs, kids and adults and seems to like everyone and everyone likes her.
Last week was very traumatic for Harper but it was also the beginning of the rest of her life. A life where she will be pampered, loved and cherished. A life where she will be allowed to be the Princess she was always meant to be.
