9/23/2017 Update:

Emmitt has been ADOPTED!!!! Another No Borders Bulldog Rescue Bulldog finds his happy ending, and we couldn’t be happier.

Emmitt joined No Borders Bulldog Rescue when his previous owner became too ill to care for him.  A friend of the family called a “dog person” they knew and asked if he would take Emmitt. The family also mentioned if he didn’t take Emmitt they would take him to the shelter to be put to sleep. The “dog person” or Emmitt’s guardian angel as we call him, decided he would not let Emmitt be put to sleep and quickly went to rescue him.  However, Emmitt’s guardian angel also knew he wouldn’t be able to keep Emmitt long term and began trying to find someone to help.  Although Emmitt was only with his guardian angel for a short time, they became best buds.

Emmitt’s new parents were very excited when they initially applied to adopt a Bulldog.  After becoming approved they took some time to get “prepared” for their new baby.  They knew adopting a Bulldog was a lifetime commitment and they wanted to make sure they had everything ready for the “new” arrival.  Although Emmitt might not be a completely “new” Bulldog, he was perfect for them.  While a little shy at first, Emmitt warms up quickly.  True to form, Emmitt was a little shy when he first met his new parents but warmed up within a short period of time.  Emmitt will enjoy the luxury of being an only child, meaning he will be the center of both his Mom and Dad’s attention and will not have to share with anyone.  We are sure this will work well for Emmitt.  Congratulations to Emmitt and both of his parents.

9/18/2017 Update:  Hello friends, it’s Emmitt!

I’ve had a super week. At week 3 with my foster family, I am still LOVING playing in the water and being a good boy. My foster daddy is still my best friend and we enjoy taking walks and rides in the car. For some reason, I’d rather be on the floor than in the seat during my car rides, but I still love them. We had more company this week and I LOVE KIDS! I was very gentle and happy being the center of attention getting pets and belly rubs. We’ve been trying to work on some basic commands, but I’d much prefer to do my own thing. I’m sure with a little time and patience, I’d learn with no problem. I can still be timid but am very trusting once I get to know you. Lastly, THANK YOU so much to everyone that donated to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue last week on North Texas Giving Day.  The organization will, because of your help, be able to save many other dogs like me.

Hope you like my progress video. I’m as handsome as ever! Cheers and Go Cowboys!

9/10/2017 Update:  After my 2nd week with my foster family I’ve really come out of my shell and excuse the cliche, but “I’m suuuuch a good boooy!”  I am still loving my walks and am a prefect gentleman on a leash. I don’t pull, will walk beside my foster parents and also stop walking when they stop walking.  I love to play in the back yard and am addicted to having my belly rubbed. Strangers came to our house yesterday for the first time since I arrived and I was the best host. I was excited to meet new friends and especially loved the additional attention. I appreciate the doggie door now that I’ve learned how to use it. I still like the safety of my crate for rest and sleep and will enter it on command.

One fun quirk about me is that I loooove my foster daddy. He gets up, I get up. He goes into another room, I’ll go into the room to be with him. My foster mom is cool and all, but my foster dad is my best friend!  The relationship with my foster parents Lab remains to be a struggle so it’s probably be best that I go to a home with no other pets.  One last thing, I am a good looking dog and get compliments wherever I go. I was at the pet supply store and the ladies there gushed about what a handsome boy I am.
Cheers and go Cowboys!

9/4/2017 Update:   Hi friends.  Emmitt here.  I have had a very stressful and tough few weeks.  I’ve gone from the only owner I’ve ever known to several temporary homes, to the vet (ouch!) and now to my permanent foster home.  When I was picked up, I was shaking because I was so scared.  Every now and then I will  come out of my shell to go on walks or play in the backyard.  My personality does shine, even though shyness is my dominant trait right now.  My favorite space in the house is my crate where I feel safe.  I’ll stay in there most of the day although the door isn’t even closed.  When I am not in my crate, I do enjoy belly rubs, treats, short walks and roaming the backyard.  I am potty trained and figured out how to use the doggie door fairly quickly.  I did have a scuffle with my foster sibling (an old Lab named Sophie) so we are being separated and will learn to get along better once I am more comfortable in my new home.  Patience is key with me but once I become comfortable with you, I am a love bug who will follow you to the moon and back (literally, I am a Velcro dog….) if you’ll allow me to. Cheers and go Cowboys!

8/31/2017  Update:  Please welcome Emmitt to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family.  Emmitt is a  5 year old male English Bulldog that weighs 65 lbs.

Emmitt joined the NBBR family as a very lucky Bulldog.  Emmitt was living with his elderly owner who was unable to continue to care for him.  The owner’s family contacted several people to see if they could help. Unfortunately,  the answer was always “No”.  They made one last call to a family friend to ask if he would take Emmitt.  This friend was Emmitt’s last chance or they were going to take him to be euthanized.  Having just lost his boxer, the family friend did not want to see Emmitt euthanized, but he also knew he couldn’t keep Emmitt. Emmitt’s guardian angel took Emmitt in and began the process to find a Rescue that could/would help. After several discouraging phone calls he contacted NBBR.  Emmitt was safe and his guardian angel said he could keep Emmitt until we were able to find a foster home. Emmitt was able stay with him for a little over a week, and it was very apparent the two had grown close in a very short amount of time.

Emmitt made a quick stop at the clinic to determine what medical attention he might need. Everyone was nervous and didn’t know what to expect, as according to records, Emmitt had not seen a vet since 2015.  Emmitt had a severe ear infection and a nasty dental infection both of which will require antibiotics.  Emmitt was badly in need of a nail trimming as they had been neglected for some time. Emmitt also needed to be neutered and brought up to date on all of his vaccines. Thankfully, he was negative for both Heartworm and intestinal parasites .

Emmitt is a very calm and quiet Bulldog. He is tentative at first but once he feels comfortable he is a Velcro dog. He LOVES to be close to those he feels comfortable with.  Emmitt will be joining his foster family tomorrow morning. Stay tuned as we learn more about Mr. Emmitt.  He will be starting his journey to find a forever home where he can feel comfortable and get as much love as he has to give.
