2/24/2017 Update: Cousteau has been ADOPTED!!!!   It is with great pleasure we announce that Mr. Cousteau has found his forever home.

Cousteau found his way to Rescue as an owner surrender due to the fact he did not get along with one of his previous siblings. His previous family did everything they could but the personality differences could not be overcome.

When Cousteau joined Rescue he was placed with a family that had other dogs to see how he would do with their dogs (since he did well with most but not all other dogs).  The experiment went well as he got along great with his foster sister.  So well in fact that his foster Mom decided they needed to make it a permanent situation. And that is just what they did.  Cousteau is now the Prince of his home where, according to his new Mom, he sleeps about 23 hours a day.  It appears that he has his new forever Mom trained very well.

Congratulations to Cousteau, his fur sister and his new Mom.

2/1/2017 Update:  Please welcome Cousteau to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family.

Cousteau is a 4 year old French Bulldog that weighs 28 lbs.  Cousteau comes to NBBR as an owner surrender.  Several months ago, Cousteau’s previous family called for advice on how to handle a his new behavior.  He had several fur brothers and sisters, but all of a sudden, Cousteau started being aggressive to his smaller, younger French Bulldog brother that had back issues. What was even more interesting is that he continued to like and get along with all of his other siblings.  His family contacted a behaviorist and took him to see if they could figure out why he was behaving like this.  His family also took him to the clinic to determine if there was something medically causing the new behavior.  The good news was that Cousteau was very healthy and nothing medically could be found that would cause his aggression to his little brother.  After several months of working with the behaviorist/trainer no improvement was seen and his parents were worried that he would eventually hurt his sibling. Due to this, they made the very difficult decision to surrender him to NBBR so that he could find a new forever home where he could be happy. It was a very emotional decision and it was apparent that Cousteau was very much loved and adored.

Cousteau is now at his foster home where he has a foster fur sister. After several days and a slow introduction they are both getting along well and appear to be on a path to becoming BFF’s.  Cousteau does appear to be scared of larger dogs.  While on one of his walks, he came in contact with a large dog and he was very timid and started to shake.  Cousteau is a very loving little guy that loves to cuddle on the couch and wants to be by his foster Mom any chance he can get.  He is still learning the lay of the land in his foster home but he seems to be a great little guy with a very easy going personality. Currently he is being evaluated prior to being ready to find his forever home.  Once we have identified what type of forever home will be best for him, he will start his journey to find that home. Stay tuned for more information about Cousteau as we learn more about him.
