8/15/2018 Update:

Carter was ADOPTED!!!!  While he had a bumpy start to his first few months of his life, he has now found his happily ever after.

Carter joined NBBR when we were contacted by a fellow rescuer, after she was contacted by a friend.  Carter had been taken in by a family after the original owner decided they no longer wanted him because they had new puppies to care for.  Unfortunately for Carter, the new family could only have one dog in their apartment and he was going to need to find a new place to live.  The new family reached out to a friend who breeds Bulldogs and she recommended contacting Rescue to help Carter find his new forever home.

As often happens with our dogs, Carter was 350 miles away and we needed several volunteers to help get him to Dallas.  Thankfully, we have many wonderful people who step up in a time of need and Carter made it safely to Dallas and his foster home.  Everyone who met Carter along his journey described him as very sweet and friendly.  He also did well with the other dogs he met along the way.

While in Rescue, Carter encountered another bump, his first foster family decided that he was too much energy and that they could not foster him.  Carter then joined his current foster family and that is when things changed for him.  They worked with Carter and learned what made him tick.  There were some challenging times but Carter turned into the Bulldog he was always meant to be.

Now Carter has found his forever family and they couldn’t be happier. They are the perfect fit for Mr. Carter, they have time to spend with him and the patience that he needs. He even has a new canine buddy to spend his days with playing and running.  Congratulations to Carter, his new forever parents. and his new canine brother.

8/13/2018 Update:  We have been busy the last few weeks. Our grand daughters and grand dog came to spend a long weekend. Scout is one of Carters best play pals. A few days s after that we left for vacation. This is the first time we had left him. Our neighbor’s daughter came and stayed the 10 days with him. Natalie said he followed her very step and did great. I don’t think we were missed much at all.

We have been feeding a dog, along with 2 other neighbor’s for a few months. Some one left him on the corner. We have all been trying to get him to follow us home. Two days ago he was at our mailbox. He came through the gate. After a slow introduction he and Carter are becoming good friends and playmates. We are so happy Carter has a dog more his age and energy level to run with. Next step a trip to the vet and a name for Carter’s new brother. Any suggestions??
Tomorrow is bath day. Carter loves water but not baths. He is getting better but will pout for a while.

7/22/2018 Update:  It has been a quite week. Carter’s foster brother Louie crossed the rainbow bridge. He was almost 14. As always Carter searched the house for him for a several days. Now Carter is an only doggy child and starting to enjoy all the attention coming his way.
With the heat Carter makes quick runs outside. Jumps in his pool, then heads in. Last night he found a frog. He loves to touch their backs and watch them hop around. Almost as much fun as chasing grasshoppers with his cat buddy.
Carter can be a picky eater at times. Does not enjoy bath time but getting better. Loves other dogs. Enjoys harassing his cat siblings in a fun way. Carter is now hooked on Netflix. He sits in front of the tv when a dog barks or a doorbell rings. I thinks he is spoiled just a little. He is a great little guy.

7/10/2018 Update:  Carter had a great week with his foster sister Kennedy. Playing hard every day. He has discovered grasshoppers. He and his kitty buddy Deacon pair up and hop along trying to catch them. We got him a few new toys. He spend much of his day hiding them. Digging them back up then searching for a better place to hide them. Tomorrow he will get to road trip to Laredo for his Aunt Beth. He enjoys riding sleeping most of the way.

6/24/2018 Update:  Carter’s foster sister has come to spend a week while her family is on vacation. They are having so much fun playing and hanging out. They have always been such buddies. Carter has learned to go to the door and paw when he wants to go out. He can open the door too. Now we keep them locked for his safety. He took a nice bath before his guest arrived. For the first time he stood and let his dad hold him while I shampooed him without a fuss. We are so proud of our little guy! Carter needs a stay at home parent and would be happiest in a home with a playmate around his own age.

5/28/2018 Update:  This weekend Carter’s play buddy Scout came to visit. They had a wild time! Carter got to take naps on the bed while my grand daughters watched movies. I think he wanted to spend the night on their bed. I had to make him come with me. When Scout is here I have to move the cats in our bedroom. Scout  will chase and Carter will join in. With Scout gone he is good again with his cat siblings. Carter has been snoozing the day away. So much play just tires a boy out. Carter is good with all dogs, loves to be with people and is great in the car. He falls right to sleep. He is a great little dog. A pleasure to have in our home.

5/20/2018 Update:  This week Carter went to the vet for a weigh in. He has gained 5lb. Carter has really filled out and is looking like a grown up dog and not a puppy anymore.
His is still very much a playful pup around the house. My grand dog will be here this weekend. It will definitely be 4 days of racing around outside, rough housing and splashing in Carter’s kiddy pool. Carter has become more confident and secure. We were gone for most of Sunday. He did great again without us. He always has our old boy Louie and his kitties here so he is never completely alone. He is still sleeping in our bed. I don’t think that will change. He’s a bit of a bed hog but we don’t mind. He is a wonderful boy. We love him so much💕

5/13/2018 Update :  This week Carter spent two days back to back without us in the house with him and with the pet sitter. The next evening we were gone again for a few hours. I could tell by the look on his face he knew we were leaving. I left his peanut butter bones and treats. The second night when we got home he peed on the floor once. Carter always does it in front of us. He hasn’t done that since his foster sister left over 3 weeks ago. He has had a history of chewing but none of that so I’m happy with our little man. He continues to love to play in him pool and water bowls but doesn’t like his bath. He has been sleeping with us for about two weeks. He is a little bit of a bed hog but what Bulldog isn’t. He’s sweet. Loves our old dogs. I wish they had the energy to play as hard as he likes. When we hold him he leans into us and cuddles.

4/30/2018 Update:  We have had company this week. We took Carter to Garner State Park. He walked the river, watched the kids play volleyball and basketball. They thought he was awesome. He loved wading in the water. On the way home he got ice cream and then slept all the way home. We went to a birthday party yesterday. Carter was home for about 6 hours without us.  We have never left him for over 2 hrs. We gave him a bone from the butcher shop and peanut butter bone to keep him busy. He did great. He still had Louie and his kitty friends to keep him company. He loves to bury his butcher shop bones. He puts them in the flower bed or under the bedcovers. He steals Louie and Riley’s bones to bury too. He’s a happy little guy.

4/21/2018 Update:  This has been a week of adjustment for Carter. His foster sister found her new home. He road up with us for her adoption. He was very unsure on the way home. He searched the yard and house for her the next two days. He seems to be much better now. Carter loves to play in the water so JW got him a kiddie pool. He is more aware of the cats. They all run hide. He’s looking for play buddies. He follows my every step. We let him go to bed with us for about 30 minutes at night. He goes into the kennel after that without a problem. He is such a sweet guy. Carter would do great with a sibling. He loves to run and explore. He gets along great with every dog that comes to visit. The more playful they are the happier he is.

4/1/2018 Update: The first part of the week was business as usual. Carter is great with his foster sister and all dogs. He does pretty well with our cats. He took a nap with our cat Tony this afternoon. On occasion he will chase one up a tree. Just fun for him. He has figured out that after dark the big frog is by the security light. He is fascinated. Friday he went up to spend the weekend with his buddy Scout. He does great riding and was the perfect guest. Sunday he had a meet up with a prospective family. He was a champ. Such a good boy. He met a wonderful family. They liked Carter but their beautiful bulldog was having a grumpy day and didn’t want to get to know Carter. I think Carter will do great in a home with a stay at home parent and a fur sibling. He is a good little guy.

3/25/2018 Update:  Cater is the fastest bulldog I have ever seen. He is quick and so agile. On one of his outside adventures he ran off with JW’s glove and buried it in the flower bed. When I came around the house he was shoving dirt over the glove with his nose. So cute! He checks the fence line everyday. I caught him trying to dig out. We don’t  leave him unattended for long when he is out now. Wednesday Carter went with me to meet the school bus. He loves to ride. Carter sat in the back seat and looked out the window. A perfect passenger. He is still doing well around his kitty friends. He will chase, but just for fun. He is great with his our other dogs. He loves to cuddle. I think he would do best in a home with a stay at home parent and fur sibling.

3/18/2018 Update: This week was busy for Carter. He started the week with Jake the wiener dog coming to visit. Jake wasn’t fun or friendly. Carter kept his distance. When we met Jake’s mom she told us Jake can be aggressive towards other dogs. Considering that I think Carter did a good job by keeping his distance from the little dog with a bad attitude. He had been doing so well when we went to meet Jake’s mom we didn’t kennel him or his foster sister. They had a great time while we were gone. I think they shredded 3 stuffer animals and chewed on two window seals. Lesson learned. Friday Carter met Scout, my grand dog. They were quite the pair. Both high energy playful pups. They ran and played for two days. When Scout left Carter slept on the sofa the rest of the day and into the evening. He is a good little guy. Very sweet and loving. He gets along well with other dogs. He is going great with the cats. He will playfully chase them around the house. Never aggressive, just having fun. We will be trying to figure out the chewing issue. Some of it is his age I believe. He is a pleasure to have in our home💕

3/11/2018 Update:  Carter and Kennedy are doing great. Carter is doing better with the cats. We are taking it slow. If the cats ignore Carter he is learning to do the same. We can tell him no now and he will back away. He and Kennedy both will chase if they run. The cats jump on the counter and watch the dogs look for them.
Kennedy finished all her medication this week. She and Carter are on their grain free food and treats. I mix a little wet food and pumpkin. Their coats and ears look great. I think Carter has gained a pound or two. He was a little picky but has learned to eat when the food  is handed to him or Kennedy will eat hers and his too.
Both bulldogs are a pleasure to have in our home. They are both sweet and loving. Today with the breezy cooler weather they have decided to be couch potatoes.

3/4/2018 Update:  Carter and Kennedy are still best of buddies. They love their time with Louie and Riley. Kennedy pretty much ignores the cats. Carter being more of a puppy is a little more intrigued. They both mind really well. If you call their names they stop what they are doing and come straight to you. They have such simulator personalities. Sweet and so happy to be with their people. Kennedy just had her bath. She stands so still, loves every minute of attention. Carter didn’t like his bath last week. I put him in the shower. Tomorrow we’ll see if he does better in the bathtub. They are doing great on their grain free diet. I am amazed at their skin and ears. A huge thank you to Nikki, Kennedy’s first foster mom for all the good instructions and suggestions on proper nutrition ideas. Thank you to Jacqueline and everyone that donated to get Kennedy into Rescue. God Bless you all today and everyday 💕

2/27/2018 Update:  We have had these two (Carter and Kennedy) for a week now. They are a joy. On the way home Kennedy hopped in the back seat with Carter and they have been inseparable. They love to play on the sofa and explore the yard. They have made great friends with our two old dogs Louie and Riley. They are learning to be get along with our cats, so far no real issues. They chased once in the yard when the cat ran.  We have cows and goats in the pasture. They watch them, never bark or run to the fence. When bed time rolls around they are tired babies. They go to their big kennel and sleep quietly through the night.

2/13/2018 Update:  Carter has had a laid back week. Not to much going on this week, but still working on him being bored when we are not at home. He loves to play and he goes outside every day when the boys come home to run and play fetch in the backyard. He has a lot of energy and loves to run and chase the boys. His appetite is increasing and he is eating great I and I can tell he is gaining weight where we can’t see his ribs no more.He needs a active family with children if possible to help him burn his puppy energy out. He loves other pups as well and does great with them. Carter would be a great addition to a family that loves a great energetic pup

2/3/2018 Update:  This week Mr. Carter has decided that he wanted to be a bad boy. He has gotten use to us now and we have let him have reign over the house. Well he has been having some accidents and deciding he is going to get into things and chew things he is not suppose too. I think it’s because he is bored when we leave the house, because he loves to play.  He is hitting the terrible 2 year old stage. 😝 Having another pup for him to play with, would be great for him.  He is still so super loving and playful.  He loves the kids and loves to run and play with them in the back yard.  He loves to play tug a war and fetch. He would be a great companion for a active family.

1/28/2018 Update:  Carter has had a great week. He enjoyed our temporary foster Paris, that we had overnight. They played so good together. He plays so well with other animals and children.  Carter is very active and loves to play. He loves attention as well. His favorite toy is his pink pig.

He is eating better each day. I can see him filling out more. He loves to go for rides in the car and going to a Pupachino. He is such a loving pup.

1/14/2018 Update:   Carter had a very busy week. He got neutered on Friday and started his heart warm medicine on Saturday. He is super loving. He gets along well with children and already spoiled. He has begun to eat better as well. He loves to play tug a war with my children and is very playful. He loves to go outside and run around in the back yard with the boys and go on walks.

Carter would be a great addition to a family with children. He follows them around and like to lay around and watch tv with them.

1/12/2018  Update:

Please welcome Carter to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family.  Carter is a 1.5 year old male, Olde English Bulldog weighing 39 lbs.

We were contacted by a fellow rescuer about Carter after she was contacted by a friend.

Carter went to the clinic this week to be neutered.  Carter had not been to the vet since he was a puppy so he needed to have his vaccines brought up to date and get an overall checkup.  It was determined Carter is a healthy, happy youngster. Carter tested negative for Heartworms and intestinal parasites. He did great at the vet and is now back in his foster home recovering and waiting to find his new forever family.

Carter is a VERY smart little guy. His foster Mom always puts on her robe when she takes him outside to do his business.  After being in his new foster home for only three days, Carter went to find his Foster Mom’s robe and brought it to her as if to say “I’m not going to take myself out”.  A very smart little guy indeed.  Carter gets along well with other dogs and kids. While he does enjoy quiet time, Carter is a thin, athletic guy that would probably do best with an active family.  Stay tuned for more details on Carter as he begins his search for a new forever home.
