8/28/2021 Update:

Carson was ADOPTED!!!!   It is with pleasure that we can make this GREAT announcement.

Carson joined the NBBR family as an owner surrender. When Carson (names have been changed to protect the innocent) was surrendered, he had tested positive for parvo and was in very critical condition.   His condition was so bad, we were not even sure he would survive.  So, we waited until we knew for sure that Carson was on the road to a complete recovery.    Carson’s previous owner was an over the road trucker and left Carson with a friend.   The friend noticed he wasn’t doing well and took him to an emergency vet.   When he was diagnosed with parvo, the friend and owner decided that they could not afford the treatment and surrendered him to the clinic.  Luckily the clinic had a Bulldog Guardian Angel that wanted to give Carson a fighting chance and not immediately euthanize him.   The BGA called us and asked if we could help.   We agreed that Carson deserved every chance possible to survive. Carson didn’t immediately join NBBR due to the fact that he was too unstable to be moved.  Carson stayed at the Emergency vet until he was cleared to be released to our clinic.   This required IV’s, medication and around the clock care. While extremely sick Carson did not get the memo that he was sick.  Carson is a FIGHTER (not with others) and he had determined that it wasn’t his time.  He grew stronger and was released from the Emergency clinic.   While stronger, he wasn’t out of the woods yet.  Carson was transferred to our clinic where they continued his treatment until finally we received the FANTASTIC news that Carson had tested negative for the parvo virus and he could be released to his foster home.

While Carson is a young guy, he has faced many challenges in his short time.  Parvo, being surrendered at an emergency vet because he wasn’t worth the cost to save,  a foster home that decided he was more work than they could handle, BUT Carson found the PERFECT forever family for him.   While his adoption picture shows Carson and his parents, he also has two canine Bulldog sisters.   The sisters, in typical older sister fashion, could not be bothered to attend as they had previously scheduled a nap.   Like any little brother, Carson gets along with both sisters but does get on one of his sisters nerves occasionally and has to be put in his place.  Then MOM steps in and all is good (everyone knows that Mom is the ultimate boss, and you don’t mess with Mom).   Somehow, Carson knew almost immediately that he was the “prince”.  Like any prince, Carson gets all the attention his little heart can handle.   We believe the official term for Carson’s new condition is referred to as Spoiled Rotten.   Congratulations are definitely in order for the entire family.   While we knew the right family was out there for him, it warms our hearts to see that in a picture.  We know the little prince has definitely found his happily ever after.

8/22/2021 Update:

Carson checking in.  I have been on crate rest all week for my sore shoulder. FM thought she would try to make the crate really comfortable by adding lots of crate mats and blankets but I always make a fort and lay in the corner. It doesn’t matter if it’s 1 blanket or 5. I love my fort.

I was introduced to the pool guy and sniffed him and would walk away.. I did this many times but I finally decided he was safe and I charmed him with my sweet face.

It’s been a long week being in the crate so much. I have started being more vocal about this. I love my zoomies and Kong Wubba.  I just want to play and have fun!  I did sneak in a zoomie and no one could stop me. It was so funny but FM and FD were telling me to slow down crazy boy.

I still have 1 day of meds left and hope I can run and play all day soon.
That’s it for this week. Talk soon.

8/16/2021 Update:

Carson checking in to tell you about my week.
I love love love the sun. After it rained it cooled off enough for me to sit outside for longer than normal and it felt so good I got sleepy and had to rest my head.

I had a check up at the Vet and my UTI is gone! I am taking a supplement just to make sure everything stays good.

I love my morning walks because I see lots of other dogs and humans walking too.  I love to sit and stare at them and try to chase them after they go by.  FM tells me I don’t have to stare at everyone but I do!
I love playing tug of war with FM.  We don’t tug hard but I sure think it’s fun.

I did hurt myself from running too fast in the house. First,  I had the zoomies and ran smack dab into the couch as fast as I could go.  It even tipped backwards but not all the way so I didn’t flip over. Second, FM tells me it’s not good for me to go up and down the stairs so it always has a gate. Well, FM had to go upstairs and she didn’t want me to be alone with my foster sister so she let me go up with her for a minute.  I was so excited because I got to see the cat and where everyone sleeps.  The cat got really fluffy. With all my excitement I ran down the stairs really fast  and ran right into the wall pretty hard.  FM takes full responsibility for letting me run down the stairs. She won’t let me do that again.  I’m limping a little so today I’m on crate rest.  It makes me sad because I want to play but I have not complained at all. FM said she loves me and she is sorry  that I have to be in the crate and I’m a very good boy.  Hopefully I will feel better tomorrow so I can play and snuggle with FM.

8/9/2021 Update:

Carson is such a good boy. He loves his toys, the sun and every now and then chewing on something he shouldn’t.

He is so much better at car rides now. He hops in the car now instead of trying to get away.
He has done some interesting things during walks this past week.  FM was waving at a neighbor as they drove by and Carson started to shoot across the road to chase the truck. Even though FM felt like she was losing an arm she had a good grip on the leash.  Next car that went by he wanted to chase it again.

He does a pretty good  job when other dogs are walking with their people.  He sits down and watches them until they go by. It is when they get by he wants to chase them. So you can’t relax too much or you will again have your arm yanked.

He is definitely wanting to be top dog. He wants the toys to himself and FM to himself. The toys have to be put up until play time or he will let one of his foster sisters know she can’t have a toy.

He had a potty accident in his crate the last 2 nights  and has not done that before. He has a checkup this week so we will see how the UTI is doing.

When it is time to eat he is separated from his foster sisters because if they finish first they would try to eat his food.  He knows when you are getting his meal ready and will go to his own room to wait for you to bring him his dish. He is one smart boy.

FM gave him a bath and he just sat there like a champ. He did try to lick the suds though silly boy.

8/1/2021 Update:

Carson is in a new foster home.  He has been a very good boy.  He plays hard and then sleeps hard.  He is adjusting to his foster fur sisters.  One is an alpha so they can never be together alone. He loves giving her the stare down to get her upset so she will make the first move.  He has to be distracted when he starts staring and then all is well.   The best way to distract him is with a clicker or a whistle.  Noises get his attention.
Carson does seem to be scared of some things but just needs encouragement.  The first day of walking he was terrified to leave the yard.  We have been going a little further each day as his comfort level increases.

He is afraid of the wind but if you go out with him he will go outside to take care of business and run back in the house.

He seems to be afraid of some men. At the pet store he whimpered and backed up when we were walking towards them.   If on a walk he sees a man he will stop and wait until the man is gone.  He does love his new foster dad though so it’s not all men.

Taking his medicine for a UTI was a challenge the first day.  He would eat everything on the pill but not the pill.  Once foster Mom got some cheese he decided the pill is pretty tasty.

He has learned to play tug of war.  He loves to play a little too rough sometimes which is fine until he jumps in your face or pulls your ponytail.  Working on not jumping in your face may be the biggest challenge because the noise distraction does not work for that and foster Mom laughs at wrestling together so foster Mom has to pull herself together and try not laugh.

He loves his morning sunshine for a few minutes at a time because it’s too hot to stay out longer than a few minutes. We do go out many times in the morning so he can soak up the sun.

We will keep you updated on Carson’s progress.

7/23/2021 Update:

Carson got to spend several hours with a No Borders Bulldog Rescue volunteer.  Someone new he had not met.

Let me tell you what a good boy he is.  He did not want to go in the car.  I am sure he was afraid he was going back to where he came from. Once in the car he was a champ.  He sat there with his paw on my arm and watched out the front window.

Once we got in the house he made himself right at home.

He followed me everywhere and his favorite thing is rolling over to get a chest and belly rub. He did gnaw on my hand once but it wasn’t strong enough to hurt a flea but I whimpered and he looked at me in the eyes and was so worried he hurt me.  He never tried to chew on my hand again.  What a smart boy!

If he wanted to go somewhere I did not want him to go I just whistled and he turned around. Again, such a smart boy!
It took him a while to play with a toy but he liked the Kong Wubba.

I did give him a drink out of a water bottle and he really enjoyed that.  He may or may not be obsessed with water bottles now. 😂

No potty issues in the house! We made sure to go out several times for him to take care of business.

Carson is a young boy with tons of energy but is so easy to train. He just wants to be with someone who will give him the attention he craves and that is all the time ( until he is ready for a nap) .  Whoever adopts this precious boy will be very lucky to have such a smart and loving bully.

7/5/2021 Update:

Mr. Carson a.k.a. Little Finger is adjusting well. He is beginning to master ringing the bell that I have placed on the back door knob to go outside and potty. I am quite proud of him. He has not had an accident in his crate in seven days. Little Finger loves riding in the car and he has new friends at Hollywood Feed. He hasn’t figured out that we must pay for things before we walk out the store with them. He’ll get the hang of it on the next trip LOL.

Carson likes to watch TV especially on the couch. He’ll get a running start and fly on the couch. It doesn’t matter where he lands. Usually it’s on me. Which is OK. It’s just entertaining to watch him get that running start LOL.
Carson also is doing much better walking on a leash. He enjoys walking when the weather permits at night. He is a happy fellow.

6/28/2021 Update:

Carson (Little Finger) is doing well. He is eating Diamond Natural Grain Free food and he really like Blue Buffalo pumpkin and cinnamon health bars.
He is very active and I’m teaching him how to ring the bell on the door to go potty outside. He hasn’t quite mastered that yet. But he has mastered giving me a high five. Go figure LOL. He has not had an accident in his crate for a few days however if there is a rug on the floor for his play mat he will urinate on it. So I’ve picked that up and now there are no rugs anywhere. Again, it’s still a work in progress.
He likes to lay in my lap and watch TV and eventually he starts snoring which sounds like I’m on I 95 with a bunch of trucks. I have not heard anything like this in years… except for my ex

6/21/2021 Update:

Carson is a very energetic fellow and you have to keep your eye on him. He is not housebroken at first I thought it was because he had been in the kennel for a while but that does not appear to be the case. He likes to urinate on my throw rugs so we are working on potty training. He also had a habit of nipping. He no longer does that. Going out for walks has been a challenge as he’s not sure of where he needs to be so we are currently working on that. He does sit on command and will give me his paw when I ask for it. He knows he will be rewarded with a treat. He has a basket of toys it seems everyone is his favorite. He had a nice cozy bed which he annihilated within a week LOL was to be expected though.
He is eager to learn and very lovable BUT very mischievous. Every now and then I catch him with a shoe or a pair of socks. He at this time needs constant supervision as he will start chewing on the furniture. Which is a big no-no. I’ve given him the nickname “Little Finger”. I’m a big Game of Thrones fan. I can’t get mad at him.  He looks at me with this strange little face and I just have to laugh. He follows me wherever I go in the house and enjoys running in the backyard.
He’s a lovable work in progress🐾

6/15/2021 Update:

Please welcome Carson to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue.   Carson is a 1.5 yr. old male English Bulldog that weighs approximately 55 pounds.

Carson joins the NBBR family as an owner surrender.   Carson (names have been changed to protect the innocent),  actually joined NBBR a couple of weeks ago.   When he was surrendered, he had tested positive for parvo and was in very critical condition.

While extremely sick Carson did not get the memo that he was ick.

Our Director met Carson and his foster family at the clinic and made the introductions.   All we can say is WOW, what a difference.  Carson is your typical Bulldog puppy, full of energy and ready to take on EVERY single challenge that comes his way.  Currently Carson is settling into his new digs and all seems to be going well.  It does appear that he has one challenge… he doesn’t seem to be fully potty trained.  We are not sure if this is due to the new environment or the fact that he has been in a hospital setting for several weeks OR if he was never trained to begin with, either way Foster Mom is on the case and they are working on it.  Stay tuned as Mr. C embarks on his journey to find his forever family, health and happiness.
