6/16/2020 Update:

Buttercup was ADOPTED!!!!  Miss B has left the Rescue and is now living her best life with her forever family.

Princess Buttercup (or Buttercup for short) joined the NBBR family as a stray. Buttercup was found by a good Samaritan who kept her safe while he looked for her family. While he was looking for her family, he took her to the vet to determine if she had a microchip and if there were any emergency medical needs.   When she was first found she was so emaciated that she was having difficulty walking. Buttercup’s back legs were not functioning as expected. The initial vet visit was positive in that the leg issues appeared to be related to her weakened condition due to her weight. After not finding a microchip,  Buttercup’s finder posted her on social media, posted flyers in the neighborhood and called the local shelter to let them know he had found her (he did everything right).  However, no one came forward and what was expected from the start soon started to look like reality… Buttercup was abandoned or dumped.   Buttercup’s finder already had another dog who does not get along with other dogs and Buttercup was no exception.  So, NBBR was contacted and asked if we could take Buttercup and find her a suitable forever home. Once Buttercup joined NBBR, the first step was to stop at the clinic to give her a more thorough vetting. (Here initial vet visit was only for anything emergency related). We received the news that Buttercup was Heartworm Positive, she also had intestinal worms, dry eye, a skin infection and bacteria in her ears.  It also appeared that Buttercup was used as a breeding female before she was dumped.   Medical treatment began immediately, starting with the first round of Heartworm treatment.  Buttercup was also started on antibiotics for her skin and ear infections.  She was dewormed and sent home with eye drops to combat the dry eye/eye infection.

Buttercup joined her foster family and was on the timid side.  But as she gained weight and confidence she soon began to blossom.  She got along famously with her foster brother and dare we say, she may have been somewhat of a bad influence on him.    However, her forever home looks very similar to her foster home.  Buttercup’s foster home had a Mom and Dad that adored her (so does her forever home).  Her foster home had a foster brother that loved to run, play and rough house with her (so does her forever home).  While Buttercup is a lover of EVERYONE,  as you can tell from her adoption picture, both she and her forever brother appear to have a soft spot for Forever Dad.   Buttercup has some separation anxiety (who can blame her after being previously dumped) but her new forever family has got her back and will do everything in their power to ensure that Buttercup lives the life of the Princess that she was always meant to be. Congratulations to Buttercup and her entire new family.  Thank you for giving a special Bulldog a second chance.

4/27/2020 Update:

Just a quick update on Buttercup.
Buttercup is enjoying the spring weather. No allergies bothering her. She hasn’t learned to social distance as you can see. This quarantine is fine with her too! We all stay home together and go for rides every few day. As you can see she gets along extremely well with all dogs and cat. She is usually very passive. Some time she does like to run and play a little rough. Buttercup is doing much better with separate anxiety. We have left her and Carter alone recently and the house is still on order when we get home! That is a huge accomplishment for her💕Buttercup is a precious little girl that is getting a second chance in life. She is such a sweetheart.

2/11/2020 Update:

It has been a while since we have sent in a update. Buttercup has settled into our home as you can see. She gets along well with her doggy and kitty siblings.
Always so willing to please. Such a sweet little soul.
She plays hard and is very high energy.
Buttercup listen and minds very well.  We do believe she had a hard start in life. She was probably neglected and cowers when you raise your voice, even in praise. When she realized she is not in trouble she comes out of the fearfulness quickly.

When we are gone we still have problems with her chewing on things. I think she and Carter get a little wild with play time when the folks are away and misbehave.

We have grown to love her very much

10/21/2019 Update:

Buttercup has been with us for several months now. She has settled in and has
become part of our family. Buttercup gets along great with all the dogs and loves our kitties. She and her foster brothers love to run and play. She is especially good with our older girl Riley. She rides well and loves trips to the Dairy Queen. Buttercup does have some separation anxiety. She has medication for when we are going to be away. We have put her in the our kennel when we leave if we will be gone for a long time. Recently we do leave her with Carter in the living room for short time when we are away. I do think when she is adopted it will be an issue that will have to be worked on just because she will be in a new environment. She is definitely worth the effort. Buttercup is a beautiful red brindle, about 2-3 years old and a delight to have in our home

8/26/2019 Update:

Buttercup came to No Borders about 4 months ago. She was heartworm positive, very malnourished and needed to be spayed.
In these past months she had her heartworm treatment. Is spayed and now weighs 58 pounds.

Buttercup is an 3 year old Old English Bulldog with the most beautiful red brindle coat. She loves all dogs and cats. Runs and plays. Very high energy. She does very well with my 5 and 7 year old grand daughters.

Buttercup does have separation issues. We are working to try to help her with the aid of medication.

She likes to sneak in bed with us at night. We don’t mind as long as she doesn’t steal the covers!

5/1/2019 Update:

Please welcome Buttercup to No Borders Bulldog Rescue.  Buttercup is a 3 year old female Olde English Bulldog that weighs 40 lbs.

Princess Buttercup (or Buttercup for short) joined the NBBR family as a stray. Buttercup was found by a good Samaritan that kept her safe while he looked for her family. Buttercup is a very sweet girl.  She can be a little timid at first but warms up very quickly. Buttercup was a favorite of all the techs at the clinic that got to spend several days with her.    Buttercup will be on crate rest for the next 30 days while she gains much needed weight and strength and fights her Heartworm infection.  In 30 days, she will visit the clinic again for her second round of treatment for the Heartworm. In the mean time, we have her on a special diet to help her gain the much needed weight.  (If is never a good thing when you can see every rib and a dog’s pelvic bones).  Buttercup appears to get along with all dogs, people of all sizes and maybe even cats, although the exposure to cats was a very brief one, it was a positive one.   Please keep Buttercup in your thoughts and prayers as she heals and starts her journey to finding the forever home that she has always deserved… a forever home that treats her like the Princess she deserves to be. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to cover not only Buttercup’s medical expenses (which are going to be high because of her heartworm positive condition) but all the other Rescue dogs in our care.
