5/18/2018 Update:

Bruce was ADOPTED!!! It is with great pleasure we are able to announce Bruce has found his forever home.

Bruce joined the NBBR family as a stray.  He was originally found running the streets in a busy part of town.  Bruce actually beelined across a busy street, through a parking lot and into a store to “introduce himself”.  Bruce’s internal navigation system must have been slightly off, because the Vet clinic was on the other side of the parking lot.  No worries, Bruce was taken there to be scanned for a chip and to get a check-up.  The ideal plan for Bruce was that he would be microchipped and he would be immediately reunited with his owners. That plan did not materialize. Bruce did not have a microchip and it appeared he had several “routine” Bulldog issues.  So, the plan was adjusted and it was determined he would start on medications, be brought up to date on his vaccines and the staff would start trying to find his family.  Flyers were placed in the neighborhood as well as posted on many social media sites and shelters were contacted.   While many people did come out expressing interest in “taking” Bruce, the staff wanted him to go to a home that knew how to provide properly for him (that’s where NBBR came in).

Bruce’s forever Dad attended a recent NBBR event and in his words “Bruce picked me”. Bruce seemed to be very drawn to the guy that would soon become his forever Dad.  The interesting news was his future forever Dad had not even submitted an application to adopt a Bulldog.  However, after that eventful meeting with Bruce, an application was submitted and the rest is history.  Bruce and his new forever Dad are already “best buds”, a forever match to be sure.  Congratulations to both Bruce and his new Dad.

5/13/2018 Update:  Bruce spent a week boarding at the vet while foster mom was traveling. During this time he had 2 teeth removed and is doing great. Bruce was so happy to return to his foster home and get back to his yard and couch. He loves being near his people and walks in the

4/30/2018 Update:  Bruce is loving his time outside in the back yard. He likes to play and also sit on the patio chairs and relax. He loves walks and being close to people. He is an attention hog.

4/21/2018 Update:  Bruce is a gentle giant that loves walks, rides and being with his people. He will try and get in your lap if you let him. He is a very happy dog with tail always wagging and is super excited when you come home from work. He is also getting used to not chasing cats. Bruce would be a great addition for any family.

4/15/2018 Update:  Bruce the moose is awesome! He loves walks and is great on leash. He is happy in the car and he is learning to leave the cats alone. He is 3 and still has some goofy puppy in him. He is super sweet and loves any attention. He is loving foster life and his soft couch and meals. He is ready for his family to find him.

4/9/2018 Update:  Bruce continues to do well. He was a little cranky at the event but at home he is fine. He doesn’t like crowds. He loves walks and car rides and any attention he can get. He also likes chasing cats but we are working on that.

4/1/2018 Update:  Bruce is doing great. He has gained a few needed pounds and is enjoying living the foster life. He loves being around people and other dogs. This week after picking out his spot on the couch he discovered the toy box. One by one each toy or bone was sampled by him. Most gained his approval. Bruce loves treats, car rides and walks. He hopes to meet his forever family soon.

3/25/2018 Update:  Bruce enjoyed meeting everyone at the Woodshed event. It was a little warm so he went home early.  Bruce is a gentle giant and just likes to relax both inside and outside. His tail is always wagging to greet you and he will stay by your side as long as you are petting him. If you aren’t petting him he will encourage you to do so by giving you love bites and licks until you start again. Bruce is 3 years old and gets along well with most dogs and chases cats for fun. He is super friendly with people and has never met a stranger. He would make a great addition to any family.

3/17/2018 Update: Bruce is such a happy dog. He is friendly with other dogs and is curious about cats and sometimes chases them. He is 3 years old and loves being near people and car

3/14/2018 Update:  Please welcome Bruce to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family.  Bruce is a 3 year old male Olde English Bulldog that weighs 68 lbs.

Bruce joins the NBBR family as a stray. So,the plan was adjusted and it was determined he would start on medications, be brought up to date on his vaccines and the staff would start trying to find his family.  Flyers were placed in the neighborhood as well as posted on many social media sites and shelters were contacted.   While many people did come out expressing interest in “taking” Bruce, the staff wanted him to go to a home that knew how to provide properly for him (that’s where NBBR comes in). The staff had been boarding Bruce (his finder already had 4 dogs at home and couldn’t take in another) and after dealing with the inquires on social media asked if NBBR could find him an approved, fully screened forever home.

In typical NBBR fashion, there was one small logistical “issue”:  Bruce and his foster family were approximately 4 hours away from each other.  But also in NBBR fashion, the volunteers quickly pulled together, devised a plan and Bruce was successfully transported from his original location to his new foster home.   Bruce seems to have a very sweet personality because he quickly supplied his transporters with a few observations.  The first being on the initial leg of transport.  While at the meeting point they decided to talk a walk. During the walk, Bruce noticed a statue of a Buffalo in the park he became obsessed with. Bruce began barking at the statue and would not stop. So….. Bruce decided he needed to go and investigate further and again beelined right to the Buffalo statue, he still was on high alert until he was able touch the statue with his nose and THEN he was cool.   When he met the transporter for the next leg of his journey Bruce was told he would be able to ride shotgun and he would be the “co-pilot”.  While most Bulldogs enjoy the front seat, they quickly lose interest and decide nap time is more important than the “co-pilot” duties. Not Bruce,  he took his duties very seriously, no nap time for him.  Bruce stayed awake the entire time and surveyed his surroundings in case there was something amiss.

Since Bruce had already been fully vetted by the kind people that found him,  he went for a quick “once over” by our clinic staff.   We did see he has a low grade knee issue (luxating patella), which means Bruce’s knee cap will sometimes move when he walks.  We have started him on joint supplements to help with this.  Other than that,  Bruce was cleared to join his foster family.   Bruce settled in quickly at his foster home and it appears he likes everyone he meets.   With Bruce’s award winning personality the search for a forever family should be a piece of cake.  Bruce may have a little “velcro dog” in him, so a family that wants a constant companion will be ideal. Stay tuned as Bruce opens the next chapter in his life: finding a new forever family.
