1/12/2019 Update:

Boss was ADOPTED!!!!  It is with great pleasure that we are able to announce 2019 is starting out as a GREAT year for Boss.

Boss joined the NBBR family as an owner surrender.  Boss was originally purchased from a local Bulldog broker as a gift for his owner.  Boss had several health issues over his short life.  Boss’ health issues had gotten to the point where he wasn’t eating, drinking and he was just sitting in his crate and shaking. After several recent changes in their life and the rising financial costs of Boss’ care, the family made the decision to surrender Boss so that he could get the treatment he needed and ultimately find a family that could be a forever home.  Based on the symptoms described it was determined that Boss needed immediate veterinary care.  Fortunately, a NBBR volunteer was able to meet the family and take Boss immediately to the clinic. Once at the clinic it was determined that Boss had a severe bladder infection and was possibly septic.  While trying to obtain an urine sample, it was found that Boss had bladder stones so bad, that they could not get a catheter in place. This meant that the bladder stones were also in his urethra and Boss could not pee and that he would need to have emergency surgery that afternoon.   It was also determined that he would need a follow-up surgery first thing the following week to address the stones in his bladder.   Boss’ first surgery was a success and the clinic staff was able to get the catheter in place allowing him to pee.  They also started him on antibiotics to help with the accompanying infection he had.   Boss spent the weekend at the clinic so that he could be monitored and ensure that he was healing well.  The following week found that Boss was well enough to undergo his second surgery to address the bladder stones.  Boss did well with both surgeries, however they did require him to stay at the clinic for almost two weeks to make sure he was healing from the MAJOR surgeries he had undergone.

Boss’ forever parents understand exactly what Boss needs.  They were actually his Foster family.  While they did not start out as a Foster family, everything happens for a reason.  Boss’ Mom and Dad recently moved to the North Texas area and wanted to help Bulldogs in anyway they could.  They had volunteered with an all breed rescue when they lived on the East Coast, but having had Bulldogs, they wanted to focus on Bulldogs.  They started as volunteers. After an overnight foster with another NBBR bulldog they decided that they wanted to adopt.  Once approved to adopt there was not a NBBR Bulldog that met their requirements. They needed a Bulldog that got along with others as they have an elderly Bulldog that needed his space to rest.  So, Mom and Dad decided they would join the Foster to Adopt program, meaning that they would open their home and hearts to a foster Bulldog (enter Boss).  Right from the start Boss was a fit.   He wasn’t perfect mind you, he came with many of the typical things associated with Rescue Bulldogs, but he was the perfect fit for them.  So after nurturing Boss back to health from his surgeries and getting to know him, they decided to make the transition from Foster parents to Forever parents.  Congratulations to Boss, Mom, Dad and his older canine brother.

1/1/2019 Update:

Hello it’s me Boss!

Sorry about my tardy update, the Holidays have been crazy busy! My foster family had people visit from all over the place. We had a house full and it was a ton of fun! I had people petting me, playing with me and I had more to do than I knew what to do with. I just love having company and everyone showering me with love.

For some reason I am not a huge fan of the sound of a water bottle being crushed or an aluminum can. I’m also not a fan of a crate… or at least when I must go in and the gate closes behind me… But once I am in and I relax, I am fine in the crate. I also love the blow drier! My FM gave me a bath before our guests showed up and was a good boy in the tub and although I thought the towel was a tug of war toy, I absolutely loved getting blow dried! I love to get my folds and ears cleaned it feels so good to me and makes me super happy!

My Foster Family figured out that I am really a lover. As an example, every night I sleep on my foster brother’s bed and he sleeps on his own chair (he is really old). My bed is up against his chair and we both snore which is therapeutic for us both… I don’t wake up until my Foster Parents come out of their bedroom and when they do – my favorite is to get and give good morning kisses. I am becoming very trusting with them, so I roll over and let them rub my belly and I LOVE IT! That is my favorite way to start my day… Then I must go outside and when I come back in – I remind my family where my food is located!

Now everyone is gone, and things are much quieter. I have been here for 3 weeks now and I still haven’t had an accident and my foster parents let me roam free when they go out and I am so good! They are so proud of me when they come back home, and I haven’t done anything wrong! I really love to be loved and if my FF goes out I cannot wait until they return.

You can see my pics- my bath, waiting on Santa, and wishing for a Happy New Year to all especially my new family that just wants me to be their Boss Boy forever.

Talk to you next week,

Boss

12/17/2018 Update:

Hi everyone it’s Boss here! What a difference a month makes from the time NBBR took me in until now it has been quite a journey. NBBR saved my life as I was very sick but now I am on the mend and handling all of these changes like a BOSS.

After healing at the vet a nice lady came and picked me up she said she would take care of me and would be my foster mom. I am not sure what that means but I know she cuddles me and gives me lots of kisses. This week she took me home to meet my foster brother who looks kind of like me and my foster dad. Everyone welcomed me and I started to learn new things and get very comfortable.

I explored the house and FM figured out I wasn’t aware of how to climb steps or really what the shower was all about. She encouraged me to explore and check out my new digs. Although I needed a lot of support, I got up and down the stairs all by myself. I ate my food, drank lots of water and got to sniff out my new backyard. FM calls me Boss Hog because I eat like a little piggy. I had no accidents in the house, I treat my FB with a lot of respect as he is older and blind, but I understood how to be super nice to him because I am super smart.

For now FM and FD have to teach me how to play nice and “drop it” during tug of war! I like to tug a lot on towels and even though FM is trying to clean the floor with a towel I think I should tug on it. I am very playful and just want to party with her! I also got to show my FM and FD I am super polite on a leash and love to go for walks.

Next week will be big, lots of new people coming in for the Holidays. I wonder how much they will pet me and fall in love with me? They won’t believe how amazing I am and my wonderful little wrinkly face.

I know my forever family is wishing upon a star for me this Christmas. FM says I am Boss the Beautiful and Boss the Brave. I know I will be the Boss of my forever families hearts.

Talk soon- I am pawsome.

Boss

11/15/2018 Update:

Please welcome Boss to No Borders Bulldog Rescue.  Boss is a 2.5 year old male English Bulldog that weighs 55 lbs.

After several recent changes in their life and the rising financial costs of Boss’ care, the family made the difficult decision to surrender Boss so that he could get the treatment he needed and ultimately find a family that could be a forever home.

While he has been through a lot, we anticipate a complete recovery. It does appear that Boss will need to be on a special diet for the rest of his life to combat the bladder stones, but we will know more about that as he heals.

Boss was a sick little guy when he arrived. He did not want to move but you could see the “spark” in his eyes.  According to his previous owners, Boss is a love machine. Boss likes EVERYONE and EVERYTING he meets.  He has never met a stranger. During his extended time at the clinic he went from a sick little guy to the entire staff’s favorite patient. It was even mentioned that Boss could be the hospital mascot, however Boss vetoed that idea since he is ready to be sprung and join a foster family of his own.  Stay tuned for more updates on this spunky little guy.  With his staggering good lucks and happy go lucky personality Boss will have no problem finding his new forever family.
