9/16/2018 Update:
Boomer was ADOPTED!!!! It is with the greatest of pleasures we are able to announce that Mr. B has found his forever family.
Boomer joined NBBR as an owner surrender. Boomer’s family made the difficult decision to allow him to find a new forever home when they came to the realization they could not provide the attention he required. After a quick stop at the clinic to get a checkup, it was determined Boomer was in very good shape and had been well cared for, however he did have one issue. Boomer had previously had a surgery for a cherry eye that did not last. So, Boomer had surgery for his cherry eye and got a microchip implanted (as all of NBBR Bulldogs are microchipped). Other than that, he was already up to date on all of his vaccines. He then joined his foster family and started his journey to find a new forever family.
Boomer’s (now Marlow) forever family started the process before he joined the NBBR family. They knew they wanted an English Bulldog but only had two requests. That their new Bulldog would get along with their current French Bulldog (Moose) AND their eight year old human son (Spencer). So after surviving the grueling approval, they asked if it would be possible to meet Boomer. After speaking with Boomer’s foster Mom, everyone was hopeful they would be a great match. The Meet and Greet went extremely well. Moose and Boomer hit it off instantly. IF that weren’t enough Boomer seemed to be most interested in Spencer of all the people at the Meet and Greet. (SCORE!!). As requested, the family packed up and went home to think it over and to decide if Boomer was the “one”. As expected, they said yes and met the next morning to make it official. During the adoption it was very apparent Spencer was Marlow’s new best bud. When asked if Moose would be mad that he just lost his boy, the family said “Oh no, Moose is a momma’s boy. He sleeps with his Mom and Dad and IF Marlow wants to he will sleep with Spencer.” We at NBBR think every Bulldog should have their very own person and vice versa. So we would like to congratulate Marlow, Moose, Mom, Dad and Spencer on a match made in heaven. Thank you for opening your hearts and home to a crazy, sometimes wild Rescue Bulldog.
9/10/2018 Update:
Boomer had a great week and is as sweet as ever. He is like a big kid who wants to play, play, play but will then come up and plop himself in front of you looking for some love. He goes all queit as you rub his velvet head and licks his lips in contentment.
He has tried a couple of times this week to get I to bed so I am sure he would love to sleep in bed, but is a good boy when asked to get down and meekly goes to his own bed.
Have I mentioned Boomer loves bones? Benebones are one of his favorites but he never met a bone he didn’t like.
Boomer watched a little football this week. Kind of funny that the only time I have caught him watching tv it was football 🏈😂
Boomer has had 3 #2 accidents in the house in the time he has been in our care. The first time it was in the middle of the day with people at home and apparently he was testing if the rule still applied. He was quickly reassured that it did and he hung his head and has had no more accidents in the day. I really don’t know why he did the second two times. They were both in the middle of the night and he had full access to the dog door. Of course the dog door was much farther then the office he chose for the scene of the crime, so it could be he just couldn’t (or was too lazy) to make it all the way. So we just make sure he gets his last outing of the night before bed to make sure he has every opportunity to do the right thing. 😉
Truthfully Boomer is one of the best dogs. He just wants to love you and please you. He is so smart and easy to train. He gets along so well with all dogs and people.
Whoever gets Boomer to join their family will be the luckiest family ever!
9/3/2018 Update:
- Relentless. When he wants to play he is relentless in his efforts. He will grab and ear or a leg, or climb on top of his fur sibling. For his people he will bark at you or mouth at your hands until you play or pet him.
- Shadow. He will follow you everywhere like a shadow.
- Pig. He loves his food.
- Shuffle. He kinds of drags his feet as he walks.
- Mickey. Because he has a marking that looks like Mickey Mouse on his side.
- Happy. He is always happy and loving life.
- Cutie pie. Do I really need to explain that one?
- Stud. Another with no explanation needed.
- Lover boy. Boomer is always ready for some love. He does sometime take it a little too far with new people and with bump their leg 😆
- Bunny. Boomer is like the Energizer Bunny and always charged and ready to go!
8/27/2018 Update:
Boomer here reporting late again! I just have so much playing to do that I lost track of time. Nothing going on new here. I am my usual sweet, happy, playful self. I cant wait to find my forever family! Just so you know, I will need plenty of play time with my people and other dogs. It is hard for people to keep up with all my play times, so I need a fur sibling that likes to play. My original family loved me so much, but they realized I just needed more time and space than they could give me. So, now No Borders is helping me find the perfect home with people that can be home more and have a fun fur sibling!
8/20/2018 Update:
Endearing facts about Boomer
- His grey spot on his right side look like the silhouette of Mickey Mouse.
- After he eats he will find you so he can say thank you.
- He isn’t a lick-y dog, but when giving you kisses he will nibble on your nose. Then when you pet him he wants to “mouth” your hands. He is always super gentle and they are always like “Love bites”.
- He is a scaredy-cat and if he hears a loud and unexpected noise he will run to you for protection.
- Along the same lines, his hearing is so good and if he hears something different or you are saying something that interests him, he will cock his head. He does it all the time and it is adorable.
- As soon as he sees you getting the eye cleaning pads, he stays right where he is and hangs his head down. As soon as you reach down to lift his head he squeezes his eyes shut hard. He looks like a little kid just tolerating getting his face cleaned 😂
- Sometimes if he is excited enough to see you, he will jump like he is on a pogo stick.
- He is such a puppy still and interested in everything
- . He wants to smell and taste any new plants in the yard, taste a leaf, watch a bug fly by… pretty much anything is new and wonderful to him.
- If he wants your attention when you are sitting, he will do a little 1/2 jump and plop his front kegs on to your lap.
- When it is time for bed he will go to his dog bed and sit in it, but won’t lay down until you are in bed.
8/13/2018 Update: Boomer reporting in a little late this week. He had to get his human foster sibling off to college, so he had some packing and send off dinners to supervise. Then he had a whole day with no one home except for his foster sibling’s girlfriend who came by to check on him. Boy was Boomer happy when his foster parents got home that night! There were lots of kisses and playtime to make up before bed. Happy to report that there were no messes or anything destroyed all day. Good Boy!
Boomer continues to be such a happy, exuberant boy. Everyone that meets him falls in love. He does great meeting people and is so much better about not jumping up on people.
Boomer is still a very active boy and will need an active fur-playmate in his new home. He also needs a home where he will not be kenneled or contained in a small space.
Boomer has also been around children this week and does great. He loves the attention they give and he is happy to give kisses back. Just remember that he is a big strong boy and if playing around small children could accidentally knock them over.
That’s it for now!
8/5/2018 Update: Boomer continues to be an awesome, fun loving, energetic fellow. For his world to be compete he needs several hours of morning and evening play time. And by play time I mean VERY energetic wrestling, zoomies, mixed in with some bone chewing on , more wrestling, and so on. His play times are after morning and evening meals. He will needs lots of room to play and really needs a fur sibling to play with. He plays very rough (chest bumping and pinning down and leg chewing) so he will need a playmate that can handle him. Boomer is super happy and gets along with all dogs and people. He gets very excited when someone new shows up, so we are working on getting him to not jump on people.
Boomer loves food, but he is learning not to jump for his treats when they are given. He is so smart so training goes well when applied consistently.
Boomer still has other puppy behaviors like wanting to chew on your hand. It is pretty gentle and he stops when told.
Boomer LOVES sprinklers and hoses. If the sprinkler is running he loves to walk under them and then goes right up to it and drinks right at the sprinkler head which of course results in him being soaking wet. Same thing with the hose. He will drink out of it but loves to be sprayed as well. Like any bulldog he doesn’t do well with heat but is good outside in the early morning if he has shade. ( until temps get into the 90’s). Of course if he is all wet he does better! He can never be outside untended because of the heat but does enjoy sitting outside with his people if it isn’t too hot and he has deep shade.
We did have one poop incident his week. He knew the minute I started leading him to the scene of the crime that he had done wrong. It seems that now he is settling in, he was testing to see if the same rules applied here and he was very remorseful when he found out they did. No repeats have occurred. Good boy!
Boomer knows his bed now and will “put himself to bed” when everyone moves to the bedroom and the evening rituals of teeth brushing etc are started. He sleeps through the night and doesn’t have a loud snore. In fact I would say he really doesn’t snore at all. Strange for a bulldog but true none the less.
Overall his temperament is of a big puppy. He “smiles” all the time and is just happy to be alive!
7/29/2018 Update:
Hello! It’s me Boomer! I need an exclamation point behind every sentence because I am always Excited! And Happy! And Playful! And Loving! Hold on I need to go run a Zoomie!! 1 lap, 2 laps, 3 laps.
7/22/2018 Update: WARNING LABEL: EXTREMELY HANDSOME AND A FACE YOU WONT BE ABLE TO RESIST. You have been warned. Don’t read further if you don’t want a bull dog in your life. There is nothing negative to say about this precious pup. This is going to read like a romance novel because it is going to be love at first sight when it comes to Boomer. His name could not be more perfect because when you meet him it is like 💥 BOOM 💥 ! From that moment on your life will never be the same.
The obvious is his incredible build and coloration. Boomer is absolutely stunning! His tri-color coat is a blend of brilliant white with blue grey spots and small touches of tan for the finishing touch of the artist’s brush. Then you move in for a pet and you melt into his incredibly soft coat that hugs his rippling muscles. If that isn’t enough then he pulls you in with the totally kissable face. See what I mean? 💥 BOOM 💥
Game over.
Ok, snap out of it! There is more to this boy than broad shoulders and good looks. Boomer is completely house trained and so far there haven’t been any issues with him chewing on anything other than bones. Boomer is extreme obedient and responds immediately when told “no”. When introduced to the foster family pack he was all smiles and just wanted to play. The senior female dog was not impressed with his boyish charm and wanted nothing to do with him but Boomer likes girls that play hard to get and pressed into her space all the more until told “no” very firmly and was pulled back. It has not occurred again and they have both settled into a good understanding that she isn’t his type.
It was more of a non-event when introduced to the senior male. It was more of a sniff and acknowledgment that a new male was in town.
Now, when introduced to the 3 year old female it was another story. After a brief introduction of sniffs it was PLAY TIME!
Boomer needs play time. He is very energetic for a bull dog. He has really enjoyed having a playmate, but if he isn’t going to have a playful sibling, he will need lots of time from you. He was surrendered by a caring family that realized he needed more than they could give him, so we want to honor their sacrifice and make sure he goes to a home where he will have the play time he needs. His primary play times are right after breakfast, some brief periods throughout the day and in the evening. He plays hard and would not be a good mix for a delicate dog or person. He has enjoyed a few bursts of running zoomies in the yard but most of his playtime has been inside because of the heat.
I don’t want to make him sound out of control. He has been going to work and is happy to sleep at my feet and chew on bones during the day with small play times with his fur sibling. He was quite the character when customers showed up for a meeting and he lay on their feet and put his head in their lap during our meeting. A
s mentioned in his introduction he can get so excited that he will jump. It is actually kind of impressive how high he can jump. I had no idea a bulldog could jump like that. But alas, it is not a trait that can be encouraged, so he has been encouraged to sit for treats and when he meets new people. It has actually going very well so it appears it was already being worked on. He is a puppy but a very smart one.
At night he is sleeping on a dog bed and didn’t whine at all his first night. He does love to snuggle but hasn’t been overly needy.
His eye is healing well and he takes his eye drops with no complaints. He takes his antibiotic wrapped in cheese and will even run for the kitchen in anticipation of that treat after he eats.
As mentioned above I haven’t found anything negative to mention at all.
He is the total package. Will you accept his final rose and give this love story a happy ending?
7/16/2018 Update:
Please welcome Boomer to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family. Boomer is a 1.5 year old male English Bulldog that weighs 51 pounds.
Boomer joins NBBR as an owner surrender. Boomer’s family made the difficult decision to allow him to find a new forever home when they came to the realization they could not provide the attention he required.
Boomer made a quick stop at the clinic to get a checkup. Boomer is in very good shape and has been well cared for, however he did have one issue. Boomer had previously had a surgery for a cherry eye that did not last. So, Boomer was scheduled for a follow-up surgery to address his cherry eye and to get a microchip implanted (as all of NBBR Bulldogs are microchipped). He was already up to date on all of his vaccines. After a quick surgery for his cherry eye he was released from the clinic and went to join his new foster family. He will be on antibiotics and eye drops while he heals.
Boomer is a very energetic young guy. He appears to like everyone he meets. Boomer does need a lesson or two on “inside” manners. He likes to jump on people to get their attention. While most people don’t mind this attention from a handsome guy like Boomer, he needs to learn not everyone wants him jumping up on them. Boomer is very easy to correct and only wants to please those around him. Stay tuned for more details on Mr. Boomer as he settles in with his foster family and they learn exactly what makes him tick. He will be enjoying some R & R and once he receives clearance from his eye surgery he will begin his journey to find his new forever family. Rugged good looks, bubbly personality AND smart to boot- this little guy won’t be searching long.
