10/28/2017 Update:

Bailey was ADOPTED!!! It is with the happiest of hearts we are able to announce Miss Bailey has found her forever family.

Bailey (now Mokie) joined the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family as a breeder surrender.  Bailey was one of two Bulldogs from a breeder to be surrendered at the same time.  And as Fate would have it, both of them were adopted on the same day by two loving families.

Prior to Rescue, Mokie was not so lucky in the care department.  She arrived with a SEVERE tail infection.  It was so bad that Mokie would have to eventually have her tail amputated.  Dr. H said it was one of the worst tail surgeries he had to ever perform.  Even a nasty tail amputation didn’t slow Mokie down in finding her forever home. Actually the surgery was just a small bump in her journey. Mokie met her forever Mom and fur sister BEFORE her surgery. It was love at first sight for all.  We think this gave Mokie the extra strength to come through her surgery in record time.

Mokie’s new Mom had submitted her adoption application weeks before Mokie even joined Rescue. After having been owned by a Bulldog previously and losing her to disease, she knew it was time to open her heart to another Bulldog.  When Mokie joined Rescue there was something that immediately drew her now forever Mom to her.  After learning we do not hold dogs for adopters, she was worried Mokie would be adopted before she was approved.  But, because of her tail issues, it appeared Mokie would be on Medical hold for longer than initially thought.  Mokie’s forever Mom felt she needed to meet Mokie. Even if she might not be able to adopt her, she knew in her heart Mokie was the one for her.

Mokie’s family loaded the car and drove to meet Mokie to see if the two dogs would even get along… they did. The next couple of weeks were a blur,  Mokie had her surgery, her foster Mom was officially approved and during this time no one had expressed an interest in Mokie (How did that happen???).  So as soon as Mokie’s now forever Mom was approved she made her intentions known-she wanted to adopt Mokie.

After several weeks of antibiotic treatment and rest and relaxation, Mokie went to the clinic to get one last check up and to be released from medical hold.  Mokie’s tail had healed perfectly and she was in tip top shape. She was released from medical hold and was ready to be adopted (that was yesterday). As soon as forever Mom heard the news and asked when she would be ready to adopt Mokie, she said “tomorrow”.  And you guessed it,  the rest is history.  Mokie joined her fur sister and Mom today as a permenant member of the family.  Mokie is the perfect addition to the family and will be a cherished member for the rest of her life. Congratulations to the entire family .

10/15/2017 Update:  This girl… has the sweetest soul.  She has so much love in heart and gives it freely.  I cannot say how wonderful she is. The vet took out her stitches last weekend and she will be finishing her antibiotic this week.  She feels so much better and has a pep to steps. I know her new family anxiously awaits her, and she will have wonderful home to go but we will miss her very much when that time comes…

9/10/2017 Update:   Do we look alike? We have only had the weekend to get to know Bailey.  But she gets along great with her foster brother and rambunctious sister. She is very sweet and loving, she stays one step behind you and loves tails scratches.   She is still a little timid and little nervous, but is coming around and is starting to play some.  Stairs are difficult for her, although she can climb a few.  This sweetheart is so good natured, very quite, and is a jewel about taking a bath and her medicine.  She is so very sweet . She’s a slow mover but can move into your heart quickly!

9/1/2017 Update:

Please welcome Bailey to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family.  Bailey is a 3 year old female English Bulldog weighing 60 lbs.

Bailey joins the NBBR family as a breeder surrender.   The breeder has decided to “retire” and move to San Antonio so he started listing several dogs that needed to go.  You may remember, this is the same breeder Bruno came from, as well as others that went to another rescue.

Bailey spent several days with a rescue friend in East Texas before coming to NBBR while we secured a foster home for her.  She did very well with all of the other dogs and just wanted to be loved.

Once our volunteer picked Bailey up, they headed straight to the clinic for her evaluation.  Bailey has a nasty tail infection and will need to have her tail amputated.  Dr. H does not want to have to put her under anesthesia twice, so we will wait on Bailey’s spay until her infection has cleared up.  Then she will go in for her spay and tail amputation together. Bailey also has a minor case of entropian, this is when the eyelid fold inwards toward the eye, initially she will be treated with medicated eye drops. Bailey may need to have corrective surgery for the entropian, time will tell. The good news is that Bailey is Heartworm negative and intestinal parasite negative.

Bailey is a beautiful, happy girl who just wants love and affection.  She is first to greet everyone and is quick to roll over for a belly rub.   She does not appear to be familiar with a leash/collar so her foster family will work to help her become comfortable walking on a leash.

Stay tuned for more information as Bailey heads to her foster home and is shown all the love and affection she needs.
