1/28/2018 Update:

Apollo was ADOPTED!!!  It is with great pleasure we announce Apollo has found his forever home.

Apollo joined the NBBR family as an owner surrender.  His story is a difficult one. Apollo had been with his family since he was weeks old.  But when tiny humans entered the family, Apollo’s life changed.  His dad didn’t want him around the baby.  Then the baby grew to be a toddler and didn’t understand what “gentle” meant.  The family thought it best if Apollo found a new forever home where he wasn’t tortured by tiny humans.

Apollo joined his foster family and immediately made an impression.  It only took a very short time for he and his foster Bulldog brother to bond and become best buds.  Apollo showed no signs of aggression of any type. He was even introduced to several small children during a supervised Meet and Greet and Apollo did well and loved on them and let them hug him and shower him with kisses.

When Apollo’s forever family was approved to be an adoptive family they had a list of NBBR bulldogs they were interested in meeting. Apollo wasn’t initially on the list.  The family knew it would take a very special Bulldog to fit in with their family.  They had a Bulldog before they had lost to cancer and were devastated.   Finding another Bulldog to fill the void their Bulldog had left was going to be a tall task but it wasn’t the biggest issue. The BIG issue was the family has THREE cats and they needed a Bulldog that would do well with cats.

When our adoption coordinator started working with the family and reviewing their list, none of the Bulldogs appeared to be a good fit.  Apollo was suggested as a fit.  The family was open to suggestions and decided to talk to Apollo’s foster family.  Apollo’s foster family had cats as well and he was doing well with them.  After the initial call, it was decided the family would like to meet Apollo and asked if he could come visit them and their cats at their home to see if it would work.

When Apollo arrived at the Home Visit he must have been very excited because the first thing he did was throw up on their floor (not the best of first impressions).  However, the family was instantly in love and didn’t care.  The icing on the cake was when Apollo went to the couch where one of the cats was laying and put his head on the couch, looked at the cat and then turned around and went to meet the rest of the family.   Apollo used his charms on the entire family and the rest, as they say, is history.

Apollo now has a new forever Mom, Dad, two human siblings and THREE feline siblings. His Dad is a chef and will be cooking special dog food for Apollo, so to say he may be a tad spoiled is probably an understatement. Congratulations to Apollo and his entire family.

1/19/2018 Update:

Please welcome Apollo to the No Borders Bulldog Rescue family.  Apollo is a 6 year old male English Bulldog weighing 49 lbs.

Apollo joined NBBR as an owner surrender.  Apollo’s life changed when the little human of the family became old enough to want to play.  The little human didn’t quite understand what being gentle meant and before long Apollo wasn’t a big fan of his human brother.  Apollo was well loved, but his family knew the right thing for him would be to live in a home without young children.  So, Apollo packed up his crate, blanket, toys and food and our volunteer went to pick him up.  Apollo jumped right into the car and headed out for his road trip to Dallas.

Apollo’s first stop was to the clinic.  He had a checkup and was brought up to date on all vaccinations.  Apollo did have a slight UTI and left the clinic with antibiotics.

We were told Apollos loves toys, playing fetch and tug of war.  He also loves walks but does require more leash training.  And he loves car rides, which was evident on his 3.5 hour trip to Dallas.  He is a very sweet boy who likes to give kisses and snuggle with his (adult) humans.

Apollo joined his foster family later that night and things are going well.  While he will need some time to adjust, he settled in once he had his blanket and fell soundly to sleep.  Stay tuned as we learn more about Apollo.
